Radiator; Only 1 Cooling Fan Operating

dont know if this is purely coincidental or somehow related, had a split top radiator hose last week which i have replaced. noticed the leak early due to steam coming from bonnet so no major loss of water or possible damage to thermostat i wouldn't have thought. on checking to ensure everything was working it is apparent only 1 of the 2 radiator fans are working. i can confirm that no more than 6 weeks ago both fans were working. do both fans run off the same thermostat as they always came on and went off at the same time? any other ideas or thoughts, thanks martin

AFAIK - the second one is involved with the AIR-CON ie if you don't have air-con, then you car only comes with 1 radiator fan.

car is a 98 wrx and has air conditioning. never use the airconditioning and as i said both fans were running simultaneously previously. starting to doubt myself now ; am certain both fans mounted on radiator ran together, now im worried lol
