Lacquer Question

A question for the painting guru's - I've been spraying a new facelift front radiator grill/cover and fairly happy with the finish so far. When using the lacquer, I can never seem to get the finish I want, but after reading on another site about how they did it I might be worrying about nothing.

What they say is that once a few coats of lacquer have been applied they have then used a wet 1500/2000 grit over the whole area to remove any final imperfections in the finish. Once this was done they then sealed it with a good quality wax to bring out the shine on the surface - is this where I am going wrong with getting a final finish to the painted parts?

Cheers,

Col.

Yep, you're right mate. Lots of thin coats then a really fine wet & dry then cutting paste followed by polish/wax after a week or two when it's fully hardened.
