Vimmy Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Hi Iain, with my new IC on I'm now starting as worry about big ass stones and rocks hitting it whilst driving about, where did you get your intercooler grills from, does it fit to the bumper or attached to the IC itself and was it easy to fit? Myles reminded me the other night about fitting one, so to stop rocks, stones and big ass pheasants killing it I reckon I'd need one on soon. Cheers, Col

Big 'D' Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I think he just bought some chicken wire and attached it to the front )Or he got a piece of sheet metal with the holes in and cut it himself ( of course ) Hi guys I used a mesh from halfrauds It needs to be bonded to the bumper itself, happy to help and give guidance if required. Cheers Iain
Vimmy Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 (edited) Thanks Iain, what sort of stuff did you use for the bonding, was it araldite glue/resin or did you have to fibreglass it in place? I'm liking the idea of chicken wire though, it gives it the country bumpkin look, I'll try and find some chicken feathers to attach it to for some added authenticity Cheers, Col Edited May 17, 2010 by Vimmy

Cheers Iain
rig-pig Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 you will get the same mesh from B&Q at half the price and twice as big
Big 'D' Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 you will get the same mesh from B&Q at half the price and twice as big The mesh I got was quite fancy not the usual thin chicken wire type stuff you get from Halfords. Cheers Iain
Vimmy Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 Halfrauds do these meshes the diamond competition mesh being corrosion resistant looks like the one to use, is this what you have on yours Iain?
Vimmy Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 That looks a better bet Iain, bigger holes to let the air through, is it a tough enough material to stop stones 'n things entering?
Big 'D' Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 That looks a better bet Iain, bigger holes to let the air through, is it a tough enough material to stop stones 'n things entering? Well it stops pidgeons flying through ass first in to your radiator at about 50mph so it must be ok Cheers Iain
Vimmy Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 Sounds good to me, thats the mesh for me then, pity the pidgeon got the bum deal
