Intercooler Grills

Hi Iain, with my new IC on I'm now starting as worry about big ass stones and rocks hitting it whilst driving about, where did you get your intercooler grills from, does it fit to the bumper or attached to the IC itself and was it easy to fit? Myles reminded me the other night about fitting one, so to stop rocks, stones and big ass pheasants killing it I reckon I'd need one on soon.

Cheers,

Col

I think he just bought some chicken wire and attached it to the front :rotfl:)

Or he got a piece of sheet metal with the holes in and cut it himself ( of course )

Hi guys I used a mesh from halfrauds :rotfl:

It needs to be bonded to the bumper itself, happy to help and give guidance if required.

Thanks Iain, what sort of stuff did you use for the bonding, was it araldite glue/resin or did you have to fibreglass it in place?

I'm liking the idea of chicken wire though, it gives it the country bumpkin look, I'll try and find some chicken feathers to attach it to for some added authenticity :D

Cheers,

Col

I used araldite and a 2 part putty to bond mine on, I am glad I did it in the end as that pidgeon my car ate on the way to Action Day would have burst my radiator.

you will get the same mesh from B&Q at half the price and twice as big

The mesh I got was quite fancy not the usual thin chicken wire type stuff you get from Halfords.

Halfrauds do these meshes the diamond competition mesh being corrosion resistant looks like the one to use, is this what you have on yours Iain?

That looks a better bet Iain, bigger holes to let the air through, is it a tough enough material to stop stones 'n things entering?

Well it stops pidgeons flying through ass first in to your radiator at about 50mph so it must be ok :D

Cheers Iain
