thebigfelly Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 HEY folks, just took delivery of my rally decals and wondered if anyone has any tips on putting them on the car, like things to watch out for or thinsg i should do. already heard of the washing up liquid and water incase i make a mistake i can move them, and not to have the car waxed before i put them on , and also not to use a power hose when cleaning the car for the first couple weeks . dont plan on putting them on any time soon as the garage still has my car, and as of midinight tonight , they will have owned the car longer than what i have , as i only had it for a week before it got taken in. and they seem to be a bit slow at fixing it seeing how its a warrenty job
edmondo Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 and just take your time................my mrs and mate put mine on and I stood over them like an expectant father - wanting it done by "yesterday"
thewelsho Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Make sure you have an old credit card to use as a squeagie (sp?) to push out air bubble and ensure good contact. After a few days, make pin-*****s in the air bubbles and use your credit card to flatten them down.
thebigfelly Posted May 8, 2010 Author Posted May 8, 2010 thanks lads, the place that supplied me with the kit, gave me a plastic scraper for the bubles , so think when i eventualy get the car back i will leave it to a sunny day when its my day off and by god if it takes me all day i will do my best to have them all level and looking good
C_WRX Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 When I put my smaller decals on I did much the same kinda things you've just noted. Strip off the area from any polish/wax/sealant. Wipe on some soap and water so that you can position it exactly where you want it before it sticks. Then there's the scraper/credit card to push out any bubbles. As said also just take your time with it. I don't really use the jet wash to try to fully wash the car anyways, more to remove obvious surface dirt/grit so don't get close enough to it to blast off decals anyway but as a just in case might be good idea not to jet wash. Be good to see the before and afters.
