Recommended Posts

took the old gearbox out the car and went to fit the new one trouble is the box just wont go in!

ive allinged the clutch so i can rule that out but still feels as if that is whats stopping it when i try to fit it??

any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated!

fitted 4 box's in the past with no problems so this has got me kinda stumped!

thanks

the plate just above front sub frame maybe? havent had bother with it before but only thing that i can think of, or possibly two dowels on one side if different box.

taking the mount for pitch stopper helps as it can be quite close to bulkhead/clutch fluid line.

hmmm ill have a look tomorrow for the plate catching but to be honest i dont think its that and there is only 1 dowel each side as i checked earlier cause i like you had the same suspicion.

im getting the box located a couple of mm on the 2 lower bolts then lifting the rear to get it level with the engine but it only pushes on till there is approx a 40mm gap all round between the 2 parts its really got me scratching my head as like i say i've done this so many times i should be able to do it with my eyes shut.

i want to say its clutch alignment as thats how it feels when trying to fit it but i've had the box in and out and checked this each time and it seems spot on.

its now trying my patience so i've hidden my petrol cans and the swan vestas lol

cheers for the input euan! much appreciated
