Halfords - In Store Fitting?

Project ICE for my WRX began today i went on line and checked the local Halfords had the speakers in i wanted a set of Vibe SEK60 components. They were in stock so i reserved them and ticked the box for in store fitting which is anoth £20. I'd do it myself but i have limited tools and no space to do it. This afternoon i got a call from the store saying 'we don't do in store fitting for speakers, we give you a voucher and you book it through a company we use'. When i went to collect the speakers tonight i was told it could take 2-4 weeks to get them fitted - the place is closed till 8:30 tomorrow and i won't find out till then when it can be done.

two things are winding up on this one.....

Why advertise In Store fitting if it isn't available......

and a possible 2-4 weeks wait to get the speakers fitted....

Has anyone had any experience of this with Halfords before, just seems to be taking the p*** a bit!

I'm thinking again about getting the new head unit from them now, i was going to sort that at the weekend.... Could be time to search the net again. Then all i'll need to do is wire in the sub and it'll be job done.

I'd just fit them yourself - you should need no more than a philips screwdriver once the door card is off.

Might still happen after i call them tomorrow to see what they say. Wonder if Halfords will give me the £20 back i've paid to have them installed....?

And your surprised how? I'd never let anyone from Halfrauds anywhere near my car...

To be honest mate, you would have been a load better off just buying off the internet where prices are INFINITLY better... it just means that you don't get them NOW... But then, after them messing you about, your no better off anyway...

Sucks mate, hope that you can get it sorted out soon enough, although, like Bri said, should be straight forward to just do it yourself...

i can do it myself no problem it just hacked me off a bit. Why have the option for in store fitting if they can't bloody do it!

the ****s haven't got a clue.. they nearly set me mates car on fire when they fitted an amp for him... wouldn't let them wire a plug...

pity you're not closer to me davey i would ave installed it all for you m8....

Cheers mate, i can easily do myself i was just being a bit lazy.

I contacted the fitters today and have been given a date of 16th April...... (could change if they hire a new fitter). Pathetic really for an advertised in-store facility, so i've fired an e-mail of complaint to Halfords as they advertised a service that isn't actually available. I just have to wait up to 5 days for the customer services department to do something about it. I'm not holding my breath though.

Lesson learned i think, unfortunately there aren't really any other options up here just Halfords or the net!
