woodywrx Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 i have just fitted coilovers to my bugeye, and have lowered it to the point of not being able to get my trolley jack under the car. I have a loud knocking noise coming from the osr but i cant find anything loose or damaged. Could it be that with the car being this low, its putting to much strain on the diff as the driveshafts are at quite a large angle to the hubs? is there anything i can do to sort this out?

Have you tried getting the standard jack under it? If it fits, you can then lift it to accommodate the trolley jack
woodywrx Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 i just drive it onto a couple of bricks to give me enough room. its the knocking im worried about
col_2 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 i just drive it onto a couple of bricks to give me enough room. its the knocking im worried about i had the same problem on my old scoobie with coil overs, i used to get a loud knocking sound from osr, the spring some how wasnt sitting in the right place, i used to put it back & check nut on lower arm then it was fine, if there secondhand check to make sure the threads are fine where you have the nut & lock nut, ive heard that some people grease coil overs up which helps, goodluck hope you get it sorted
Deano 666 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Hi, how many miles have you done with the coil overs fitted? it could just be them settling down? is it a noise going over bumps or as you drive?
woodywrx Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) i will check that lower arm nut, they were bought brand new. its whenever i accelerate or turning left makes it worse. now its worse and it feels like its holding back on power. its really sluggish and grinds when i pull away. they have been fitted for over a week now. think the diff is b******sed Edited February 14, 2010 by bugeyewrx

The only issues we have seen is knackered top mounts, or the washers missing on the top mounts too.
Pele Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 and something that happened to me was that the strut had been put on the wrong way round.....
woodywrx Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 thanks for the help, waldonway...here i come.......again!
