CHUCK Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Hi folks, I was on the dual carrage way the other day when a seagul flew out in front of me. I didn't brake or swerve due to the ice. It ended up whacking my bumper and smashing my scoop. Anyone have a bugeye wrx scoop for sale? 94 H would be perfect. Also will this look OK painted with a can? Who are the best and cheapest subaru breakers and when do they open? Cheers Dan
thefastone Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Ooh, that's a bit of a crapper... hope you get it sorted ok mate. And for your question... It NEVER looks ok painted with a can. but hey, its your car... best bet would really be to get one with the same paint code as your car, Would probably be the safest...
thefastone Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 You could go for an STi Scoop... Scoobyparts Scoobyworld have STi "Styled" scoops also...

Thanks, I'm trying to keep the car looking standard. It is more than I wanted to pay also. I think I'll see if any of the breakers are open tomorrow. It looks a right mess.
thefastone Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) I'm sure that you'll get one easy enough mate the scoobyparts one was just another option... As a thought, also try Glenburgie, Liam might have something sitting on the shelf, but I dont know when he's open... http://www.glenburgie-subaru.co.uk/ Edited December 28, 2009 by thefastone
arch Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Try impreza breaker on ebay not always the cheapest but they have a fair few impreza's breaking at the minute

I did my grille inserts, fog light covers and splitter (1st time round) with spray cans.. And got a good finish.. Later used Tinned paint with proper paint gun for scoop/wing/splitter/side skirts.. Acceptable results.. Although I will admit up close and personal you can see the difference in texture, that's mostly because I was spraying outdoors, which is asking for trouble.. But the colour is pretty much spot on and still comes up shiny! I'm happy with the resilts I got..... Note all paint was from Halfords in Elgin As long as the paint is mixed properly it's more down to the method used, lots of time and patients is the key.. Du-Pont spray cans can now come with a decent spray nozzle unlike olders style cans which just spluttered and didn't give you smooth coverage.. thefastone said: best bet would really be to get one with the same paint code as your car, Would probably be the safest... Totally agree there... The paint on your car will already be aged and any re-spray to a single panel will always be different.. Note that because the scoop is plastic it will always have a slightly different finish to the bonnet and rest of the body.. Just look at any impreza under artificial lighting (petrol station lighting is good for that).. the scoop shows up differently.. 94H.. that sounds familair.. That'd be Red Mica then eBay is probably your best bet.. Keep an eye out for damaged impreza's.. Failing that as metnioend above maybe go for an standard STI 7 scoop.. But no Red Mica on Sti's so would need respray.. Also STI 7 scoops are almost like gold dust... Best gues for price of standard WRX scoop woudl be anythign from about £40 up to £100.. As a standard part it's more likely it's somethign someone wasn't rid of rather than want to make lots of money from.. Oh and if you come across a perfect Red Mica Bonnet to go with it lemme know. Was up at gelnburgie the other week and he's not got much lying aroudn these days.. He was saying he's winding back on Subaru Spares as he's just not shifting them Worth a try though.. you never know!
thefastone Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Yeah, but then you never really hear about Liam much these days, I think that lack of marketing may be his problem there....
