boab type ra Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Does anybody on here have 1 or knows anybody that has 1. it is on the scooby world web site was just lookin for info about fitment and is it worth it.
scoobyterzo3 Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 i have one and the fitment is good and seems to be worth its money, thats on a classic.......
paul555sti Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I have one on my classic and it works fine. If i was doing it again i would get one of Harveys ( a guy on scoobynet ) hybrid ones. There is very little price difference and the quality and performance is ment to be much better. Look in the group buy section on scoobynet and you will see his stuff for sale over there. He also offers a very cheap fitting sevice.
trackhound Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Does anybody on here have 1 or knows anybody that has 1. it is on the scooby world web site was just lookin for info about fitment and is it worth it. I run one my track car and it works perfectly. The pressure loss on the older design was not great but the more recent tube and fin design is much improved. There is alot of snobbery about them but there is nothing wrong with them for the money in my view.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I run one as well and it does the job just nicely

scoobnoob Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I looked into a fmic a while back and the autobahn seemed to be the best for the money. I ended up getting a second hand HKS on ebay though, but was tricky to instal

The Hybrid HDi kit consists of four hard pipes. The one on the battery/washer bottle side is a continuous polished aluminium pipe all the way from the throttlebody to the plastic timing chest cover. Both kits are very similar and according to Hybrid, the Autobahn is a copy. If you examine the cores you will see differences in the internal core design.
ciaranrb5 Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I have one also was a little tricky to fit and had to do a couple of wee brackets as it was rubbing in the bonnet vent and on the timing belt cover. Bit more lag but to be honest it is hard to tell because I fitted a different turbo at the same time as fitting the FMIC. Moist importantly it comes with decent clamps and I am yet to have a pipe blow off touch wood
boab type ra Posted December 13, 2009 Author Posted December 13, 2009 I think after the coments i`m defo goin for the autobahn88 fmic. ciaranrb5 have you decided wether to go to the dark side?
harvey_smith Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Why not compare it with the Hybrid GT £270 and the Hybrid GT 2 £290.
DR Motosport Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Another vote for the Hybrid from Harvey. I had an Autobahn on my classic wrx ra, but they are designed for the 97-00 models, and if your car was like mine an earlier 94 model, it does need a bit of tweaking to the pipes for a better fit. However I've just fitted a Hybrid to my new-age STi, and it's just so much better quality. Not just the core, but to having better flanges on the pipes to stop hoses popping off. But more importantly Andy Forrest commented at the mapping how well it was working. So next time I'm fitting a FMIC to a classic, I'll be giving Harvey a call for a Hybrid.
jef Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 newbie here just fitted a hybrid gt2 to my classic having no experience fitting frount mounts, its a fair bit of work, but seem to be a decent bit of kit not been mapped yet tho.

boab type ra Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 Why not compare it with the Hybrid GT £270 and the Hybrid GT 2 £290. what is the main diference between them?
johnnyr6 Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Have you seen the autobahn cooler? If so i have a hybrid sitting in my garage that you could have a look at to compare. The hybrid is a nice bit of kit. Your more than welcome to pop over and have a gander. Johnny

boab type ra Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 Na still thinking about it just now although been looking at Spec C's so that is another viable option I looked at the spec c but the wr1 was cheaper to insure.
