scoobymark Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 900 quid for a decent one, go for AFP or any other reputable turbo stay away from cheep ones!
RA Dunk Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Out of interest, just hypotheticly, how much are these TD05 20g turbo devices?I assume this is one..... What else needs fitted? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-WRX-STI-TD05-...id=p3286.c0.m14 As scoobymark says, avoid ebay cheapos at all costs, lots have bought them and the turbos dont come close to giving the figures they should
W88CHY Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Knew I shouldn't have looked now, got my head wandering now! If I could get one cheap enough before the 14th October I would be tempted, if not - after Christmas.

There quite common now, just keep an eye on for sale sections (especially scoobynet) and you should pick one up no probs, even put a wanted post up on scoobynet and you should get one in no time
scoobzie Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 (edited) charlie i may be able to get my hands on a 18g if you want just say the word or will sell you mine and just buy myself a md321t which i will end up doing anyway Edited September 29, 2009 by scoobzie
fai17 Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 (edited) The "T" can be quite laggy on a classic without AVCS but it's quite suited to the newage STI Edited September 29, 2009 by fai 17
Frank_STI Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I'm on my second 20g lol, had an AFP one which lasted 3k milles, now on an AET 20g and its lasted 5k miles but think I might be down on torque with the AET. Really good turbos though, virtually no lag and sound awesome too

Frank_STI Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I bought it second hand and it had "just been" refurb'd according to the seller but who knows, also I have anti-lag with the simtek which is probs the main cause of destruction lol. (White Blobeye which the simtek boost track cooked itself at Hypertech during mapping, p.s. i've still not send it back to get fixed )
scoobzie Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 the 20g seems a well suited turbo for the sti i just cant wait until i get it on boost
W88CHY Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Before commiting, I wouldn't mind a quick run in a similar speced bug/blobeye with the 20g, just to compare it with mine.
scoobzie Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 i may be able to sort that for you leave it with me
scoobzie Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 just a wee update on were i am from getting the 20g 1. turbo pipework ordered 2. fuellab pressure regulator 3. walbro fuel pump parts sourced through mark at lateralperformance i can,t thank him enough for all the advice and also steve whitson for who has answered my many a phone calls all thats left to do is wait on the parts and get steve to fit them and then of to the magic forrest for some electronic wisdom.
murtayamartin Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 supposedly 20g sppols faster than md equivalent but loses 20bhp at top end 18g sounds ideal but andy f does not sell them anymore as reckons 20g spool up is almost as good as18g martin
scoobzie Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 scoobyclinic still sell the 18g but i will stick with the 20g until the summer and maybe go further ie. md321t or if someone bought my 20g i could buy a md
diablo Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 scoobzie what sort of power can you expect from the setup you are going with as i might go down the classic route with the same spec.
scoobzie Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 hi m8 am looking at aroung 380 with the same torque but who knows aslong as it pulls well then i will be happy with that in a classic it would be even better but each to their own.
