Montythegod Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) Well, i face a dialema... been 3 months now since the engine gave up and I dont know what to do .... Sell the scooby as it is all mods etc, just needing an engine ? Put a rebuilt engine in it and hope it will last me another couple of years at 340 bhp ? Problem is cash is bit tight at the moment, so cant go balls out on a 2.5 conversion and after digging about have found http://www.smrengines.com/ as engine rebuilders in london, who also sell on ebay and charge £1000 quid for a rebuilt STI engine.. and tempted as it is, is it worth fitting one of these into my 1998 scooby... do we have any experience of them, them seem to have sold a lot of scooby lumps as per their feedback, so someone must have come across them ? arrghh dunno what to do, suggestions ? granby Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Yeah they do have very good feedback, might be worth posting on Scoobynet as well to see if anyone else has had experience of them
granby Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) Found this http://bbs.scoobynet.com/general-technical...ent-engine.html http://bbs.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-general...ne-rebuild.html http://bbs.scoobynet.com/general-technical...e-do-i-buy.html http://bbs.scoobynet.com/wales-26/784244-n...eeded-help.html Think i would pass Edited September 14, 2009 by Granby
Jamessti Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 (edited) I would mend it, and then either sale it or keep. You will get more for it after a rebuild. I would either get Kent performance to rebuild it or get one of these, when you get the money engine tuner Edited September 15, 2009 by Jamessti
Deano 666 Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I would either fit a second hand engine, or break it. you willl fetch more money in parts than a complete car. but only you can decide!

HOL Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Monty, have you tried contacting the lieks of Zen and RCM to see if anyone is doing a 'Granby' and uprating from a working engine to a complete new one.
