Big thanks to all the guys at Ian Grieves. They got my hatch engine opened up piston replaced, remapped and back on the road in a week. Fanatastic service, kept us upto date all the way through and didnt mess about just got it down. Subaru are lucky to have dealers like this. You realise what a great car the hatch is when you need to drive a 308 for the week. Trying to rack up the miles now so i can get it back in to sports sharp.

So a happy chappy then? Glad to hear it... and that you've maybe got a bit of confidence back in the old girl too.

Got my recall remap done in the interim too... precautionary only as she'd been behaving OK. I feel there's a good bit more grunt to her since, especially up top. Thoughts?

Have to confess to having been a bit of a cheapskate when I got her back in March 08 and running on normal unleaded (Heresy, I know!!!) for quite a while... I wonder if this made the ECU pull the timing and that's whats stopped me having any piston problems... maybe, maybe not. V-power all the way now though... Oh yes! S*d you Misters Chancellor and OPEC!

Funny... when I booked in re the remap (Weir's, Perth) the service bod just about fainted when I said "remap". "Oh we don't say that word here, y'know. They void your warranty. No, your car needs an SU19 recall... for an engine management software upgrade!"

Sounds AWFULLY like a remap to me!!! *chuckle* But am on the road safe and sound as they promised and, like Grieve's, can't fault Weir's either. Well played folks!
