burgy_51_ Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Just some advice on my light, it came on in the car last night and is still on when i start up the engine, Does that mean there is a fault with the car? Ive had a remap by Andy Forrest, Ive got a problem with my cluch could that be it? What is the best thing to do? cheers John
hi_jac Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Yes you have a fault, go to Steve at semtec in Kirky. He will read your ECU and tell you what the prob is. Don't see it being to do with the clutch.

jimser Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 (edited) Cheers mate, Were abouts in Kirky and how much does he charge? stevie's address is 37a eastside, kirkintilloch, g66 1qa. 0141 776 1919. chances are he won't charge if he is fixing the fault for you,if not probably £20. he's a good guy Edited June 21, 2009 by jimser
burgy_51_ Posted June 24, 2009 Author Posted June 24, 2009 any news on what the light is on for?chris Ive been to busy working late, im going to leave it until the weekend! i will post up mate when i fined out the problem!
Richie Cross Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Hi, I think you've said you've had other mods before the remap? I uprated my turbo/injectors/up pipe before the remap and my CEL came on for the EGT sensor. All I had to do was get a 2.2k resistor and solder that across the two points and that was that.

Yes mate, it was a downpipe, the cats out and a fuel pump! Do u think its because of the cats are took out? i thought way getting it mapped the light sould not go on!
sti_steve Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I have a straight through 3" system fitted and not had a light come on but im not going to drive it anymore to be safe until my remap. After the remap it should go off by whoever does the remap

If I remember, it's when you get rid of the cat in the up pipe. Andy F told me the EGT fault is one that he can clear but can't get rid of permanently......so in goes the resistor. If Andy doesn't have any, you can get them from Maplin etc
Spaceman Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 think wi Burgy`s car being an STI it don`t have a Cat in the up pipe and so no EGT sensor there as its there to protect the car as if the temp gets to high the cat would break up and boom. Course if Burgys is a WRX then it could well be the EGT
fai17 Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Burgy car is a STI so there is no cat on the up pipe. But from ref the 2.5L STI do have a very sensitive overboost warning on the ecu...there is maybe like 0.1bar of given boost spike that can set the CEL on. Andy will be able to raise the figure but i think Andy set it like that for safety reasons. Peter
burgy_51_ Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 The car got checked out the day at Semtec , the light came on because of the cats were removed so really there was nothing wrong at all, so then i thought with getting the car mapped the light should stay off! im i rite or wrong on that? I tried to phone Andy F about this matter but i know hes a busy man. The light is off just now so il wait til it happens again! The boys at SEMTEC were very helpful today if anybody gets the same problem!
hi_jac Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Steve and Kenny at Semtec both drive Subaru's and know there stuff
