uno turbo Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 hi folks, me again, with yet another question. my 03 wrx has a fully decatted exhaust system, and has for 3 years, and im getting bored of looking at the engine warning light on my dash board now. the question is, does anyone know of a way round this to turn off the light, yet still allow it to work for any other engine faults. any advice will be greatfullt accecpted.... with thanks rich....
eureka Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 can only be turned off once the fault has been rectified or will just keep occuring. i assume it needs a cel fix from the decat is that right, if so get mapped and light will be switched off and still work with any other fault i would get this sorted as with light on you will not be aware of any other fault that may occur. steve
notsosmall Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I know AWD in perth can do a CEL light fix by soldering in a small add on that reduces the voltage some how and prevents the CEL showing for this fault Would be worth contacting them to discuss very friendly and helpful people, im sure it wasn't expensive either Here's there contact details: AWD Motorsport Engineering Unit 5, Inveralmond Way, Inveralmond Ind. Estate, Perth, PH1 3UQ, Telephone: 01738 633336 Email:sales@awdmotorsport.co.uk
eureka Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 have you contacted the mapper that did it when you decatted?
uno turbo Posted June 20, 2009 Author Posted June 20, 2009 impossible performance in rochester did the decatting for me, i have heard before about getting the light switched off this way, but i was hoping for a more local place than perth, but will get in touch with them and see what advice they can give me. thanks for the advice so far, will let you know what comes of it... rich.... ps, i havent had it mapped yet steve, was thinking of getting it done soon though. i take it that would be a worth while thing to do then???

mikkers Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 It needs a remap. A full decat on a newage should be remapped sooner rather than later for both performance and the engines lifespan.
eureka Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 It needs a remap. A full decat on a newage should be remapped sooner rather than later for both performance and the engines lifespan. agree !!! its a must not a should be, next step on a new age
eureka Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 bloody hell you two agreed on something LOL lmao dont get too used to it !!!!
mikkers Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 lmao dont get too used to it !!!! On second thoughts the best fix for a cel due to a decat is a piece of black tape over the light. And give it a tank full of diesel once in a while.
