granby Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 all shows this and last year by ks were arranged by ks not under sidc there for no insurance !!!! We were still covered because we are part of the SIDC even though they were organised by Kent Scoobies
j3rk Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Because of "Club" status a gathering of members, who have paid a fee, would need to indemnify any liability to be within the Law of the Land. And I know that you wouldn't wish a "Club" to start by being outside the Law especialy when you take into account that some of the SIDC (Kent members) are employed by Kent Constabulary. Need I say more Im so glad i didn't part with any money joining this place. If this comes to a conclusion where kent scoobies is run by pele who is down to earth, friendly, easy going, on a level with most people and approachable then ill gladly become a full member for one. I cant stand the uppety stuck up attitudes in here. If i wanted to join a club where you have hierarchy and politics then sidc would be the one.
Pele Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Firstly thank you Eureka for having the balls to apologise on an open forum, and in person takes guts to do that Secondly I would like to state that EVERYONE'S OPINION SHOULD BE RESPECTED, regardless of whether it is in favour or not. People are entitled to have an opinion, and like noses, everyone has one Well it seems that at the last few meets I have been asked by different people if I would ever want to take up the reins again for KS. To be honest at first I said no as it didn't seem that people really wanted me there, but as the meets have progressed this year I've found myself slipping back into meeting and greeting new members lol, old habits die hard I had several reasons for stepping down in the first place, the main one being I felt I was being pushed out and so I thought I'd jump before I got pushed so to speak. I had also been suffering from ill health, and yes I needed a break from trying to keep the club running - this doesn't mean I stopped caring about what happened within the club though, as quite a few of you seemed to think. If it is what the members of the club want, then I will step back up, but I must have 100% backup from all of you or it will just be going back to square one again, and I'd rather not go there, and I don’t think anyone else does either Reading through all the posts so far, I have a few bits to add to some of it With regards to me driving forward the setting up of a KentScoobies.com website - I have not got a clue how to set up a website, so if members want this to go forward then we will need someone to help us with this, if anyone wants to volunteer their services that would be great, if it’s for free, even better Some have said the club was at it’s best in the beginning, well I can certainly say we used to have a lot more fun but at the end of the day it’s the members that are present now who need to make the effort to make the club fun again - it wasn’t just me making the effort in the beginning it was the whole of KentScoobies mucking in and having fun, and everyone was enthusiastic at the beginning. We need to bring back that enthusiasm again and start making KS a recognisable club again, not to be laughed at because of our bickering but to be respected by the way we conduct ourselves. TOP MAN!!! well people have always expected me to be a man when they turn up so it’s rather funny seeing their faces when they meet me :madnoel: Some of you would rather donate just to KentScoobies, well I’m sure something can be sorted out that benefits us as a club and is not too hard on our pockets in this credit crunch environment we find ourselves in at the moment. As for me being relieved when I stepped down, Hugh you were right I was at first - relieved to be free of all the backstabbing and whispering going on, but then I started missing what has been a very important part of my life for the last 6 years or so and I realised I couldn’t just turn away from something I worked so hard to create and keep going. That’s why I still turned up to meets because despite everything I missed you lot As for it being Deans whispering that outed me, he has never had anything to do with it, in fact he has been one of the most supportive members on here to me. The reason the fundraising idea brought up by Phil and Granby was not met with much enthusiasm was the fact that you had to first pay your membership to SIDC, then add the KentScoobies fee on top of it, and the way people were seeing it was that they were paying all this money just for a logo under their name, you can’t blame them for not wanting to shell out more money just for this when they could be spending the money on their cars instead Several people have said about the meeting and greeting that hasn’t been happening of late - I noticed this which is why I sort of started doing it again, as I said old habits die hard and I like to make people feel welcome and not be left out. As Q said when I first started the club it was all my own money going into it, and I wouldn’t even like to begin adding it up but that was what it was all about, I did it because I enjoyed it and at the time I had the money to put into the club myself and so asked for nothing from no one. I’d love to still be able to do that but never mind lol Hugh, www.kentscoobies.co.uk is Dean’s personal site, and nothing to do with KentScoobies as such, www.kentscoobies.com was the url for the club. Well I think that’s it for now, I’m sure someone will point out anything I have missed, and sorry in advance to anyone I’ve upset with anything I’ve written here
scoobytibs Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 WHO NEEDS JEREMY KYLE THIS IS BETTER IS THERE GOING TO BE A D.N.A TEST DONE ON SOMEONE I CANT WAIT
mikkers Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 mikkers mine and deans whispering lol shall i start naming names as to the conversations i have had re peles leadership skills you included no!!! i had and shared ideas which were dismissed my some but thats a club desision so never mind!! as for respect for pele this is irrelevant and more to do with having the bolox to admit i for one was wrong ,as for frustrations and mixing it up i dont think the club needs help there do you! all i have done is put forward my ideas and feelings if they touch home then hey **** it . critisizing i did not ,but answer his post yes i did because of the answer does this mean i dont respect hugh no ! as for the club well i may have upset a few in the past of which i appologise for my behaviour but this i will not its too time for me to move on ,i can no longer listen without having an opinion so best for me if i go my own way and let those (only a few) in the club that truly believe that that they drive the best thing since sliced bread carry on, believe me you dont. i hope the majority of you all see sense and welcome her back ,the club has not and will not move on without her. se ya!!!!! You say the club will not move on without Pele, but i thought the whole reason you wanted shot of her was because you thought it wasnt moving on with her. I am confused, do you now say you thought the club was going fine all along under her? Let me put across my thoughts on the running of this club. Kent scoobies has around, id guess 35 - 40 members all in, of which 10 - 15 are regular attendees, post regular posts etc. I do not believe a club of this size requires 2 "leaders" - it dosnt work in business and wont work here. Regardless of semantics and actual titles the club will have 2 leaders. When i first came here Granby organised, and still does, everything, he takes payment from us, including chasing payments, and then passes these on, he filled out all the forms for the BHP show and does these time consuming tasks without acting like a martyr. I can only comment on things that happened while i was here, and this is what i saw. As for being part of SIDC, well it works for essex and it works for scotland, but i guess kent is special. All i and other members want is a club that is friendly and welcoming, it was when i joined. People are always going to fall out, some not get along with other etc, but most other places just get on with it. Its only a car club but somtimes it feels like its part of a military coup.
matthew_buckland Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I for one would like to see the club back to what it should be, i've heard lots of stories of the early days of the club and it sounded like a fun place to be. My first meet 3 1/2 years ago was attended by a fair few cars, i have made some good friends through KS and i hope that this club can reinvent itself and maybe some of the older members will come back too (you know who you are) and i hope the one's that are considering leaving have a rethink and give it a few months to see if changes take place.
baser999 Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 (edited) You say the club will not move on without Pele, but i thought the whole reason you wanted shot of her was because you thought it wasnt moving on with her. I don't think it was a case of 'getting shot' of Pele, it was more a case of trying to help her out whilst she was clearly having more important domestic issues in her life that she needed to concentrate on. Sadly there were others on here that thought this was a move to remove her from the Club altogether which was never the intention and yet gave way to such a furious row on here last year. Following on from previous debates and much heated argument on here, Ian took on the role of regional organiser, a role which was well suited to someone with the time and organisational skills needed - he also does his best to attend most events in which Kent Scoobies participate. I don't think that there can be anyone on here that will deny he's doing a very good job as our RO and as such there is no reason at all why he should relinquish that position, unless of course he chooses to do so. Similarly Big Jay took on the role of dealing with club merchandise. Pele is still around, turning out for events whenever time allows and offering advice on technical issues and such like. Perhaps if the truth be known she welcomes the breathing space that she now has and is glad for someone else to have taken on the role of RO? Edited June 9, 2009 by BASER999
col_2 Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 (edited) if this was a football club, we wouldnt have any players, & without players we wouldnt have a team, no team no club!!! as for granby, (ro of sidc), hes done a great job in keeping things going for this club... no one wants to hear debates, thats why 95% of people do not put any comments up!! i for one would like to see kentscoobies have there own independant club for just kent, but i do feel this should be set up & let the people who are interested known, i did reply to this in the pinned section, but have not recieved an answer as yet. mikkers Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 (edited) As Pele said - everyone is entitled to an opinion, although I didn't realise you were the spokesperson for the "other members". So you dont think people want a friendly and welcoming club? This was the only sentance i used the phrase "other members" in. So would you prefer a club that is unfriendly? Seriously, why would you put that? Its just ridiculous. The only person i speak for is myself. Col is right, 95% of people here will just leave well out of threads like this, and they are probably the sensible ones. Again, please tell me why you thought i was the spokesperson for other members. I could have put "all other members enjoy having the use of one or more limbs", or "all other members think breathing is beneficial to their health" and I was stating something equally obvious. And no, kent is not special, it just has a lot less members than esc and scotland. Edited June 9, 2009 by Mikkers
Scooby Hoo? Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 It has come time for a positive approach to be mounted to move the club forward. With this in mind, I propose that Dean gets his domain of Kentscoobies.com in full swing and Pm's all known potential members with an invitation to register. Once members have registered a £10? Fee can be extracted and paid into the already open bank account. Having ascertained the club roll number Nominations for the club front person can be made and a ballot taken (if there is more than one person proposed). Their will always be some members with duel membership of SIDC and Kentscoobies and all will be most welcome at all meets, but lets forget what happened in the past and move forward on a united front. Kentscoobies has the potential to be a force that needs taking NOTICE of, with a large membership. All those that don't participate in this venture will consider themselves accursed that they were not part of this day, (thanks Will) Lets all look forward and move forward. Any grammatical, spelling or double negatives need to be reported to Deani
col_2 Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I was just being my usual flippant self.Flippant (adjective)- offhand / dismissive / facetious / jokey OOPS, done it again. sod playing scrabble with you
mikkers Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 If you want to know what other members want, you should ask them, not make assumptions.Kent Scoobies has more members than you think. P.S. I have corrected your spelling and grammar errors, no need to thank me though. Yes, hearty thanks for capitalising some letters and changing the a to an e in "sentence". When it comes to being that pedantic you really must be clutching at straws, as you make no attempt to correct the posts of others. So, again, you believe I am wrong to assume members want a friendly club?
mikkers Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 You're welcome, I like to help where ever I can.The "others" are not the ones making an ar*e of themselves. (Just my opinion) Why do you feel the need to keep repeating yourself? What makes you think other members give a sh*t? I'm repeating myself because you keep evading the question. Members I have spoken to would like to be part of a friendly club, you obviously have other ideas. As for making an a*** of myself, well it would be a very sad state of affairs it I gave a flying one what you think. Maybe you are right on the last point, but you clearly give a **** otherwise you wouldn't partake in this thread or the bickering in it.
mikkers Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 TBH this thread is now leaving me with a bad taste in the mouth. I have said what I want to say regarding the running of this club and this thread is not helping anyone and especially not any potential new members who by now would be running for the hills. I'm sorry if this childish bickering (on all parts) has made people think twice about being part of this normally friendly club. I'm now bowing out of this thread as anything else I say is not going to be constructive, and nothing on here since Hugh's last post has been. So I will not be replying in this thread again, so do your worst Dean! (who is here is actually quite a nice bloke, I wouldn't know, never met him).
scoobytibs Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) theres two spelling mistakes in your last two posts mikkers can you sort it out please regards steve Edited June 11, 2009 by scoobytibs
deani_age Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 well said in my opinion i would sooner donate to just kentscoobies.com with the people in kent i know, that way i know my money would be going to kent & not all 12 Regional Areas!!! You've got a short memory Col
col_2 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 You've got a short memory Col dean im in more than one club, & im also in co.uk, my memory is fine, i also like sidc, so why dont you move your club forward instead of trying to bring other forums down, like it or not dean sidc will always have a kent region too, so dont mix the two, your just making things worse, if this is how your all going to act, then i dont want to be part of your forum. col.
eureka Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 lol is this sh*t still going on i thought it had been put to sleep !!!!
