Scooby Hoo? Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) Give the poor girl a break. She is just getting to enjoy coming along to meets without all the backstabbing and you want to set her up for it all again. Let her have some space and fun. Edited June 4, 2009 by Scooby Hoo?
tony_cousins Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Phoenix rising from the flames Its about time everyone realised this and re instated her. The club was at its best with her at the reigns when she had the FULL SUPPORT of its members The older members can vouch for this, things were arranged and sorted for the benefit of the club and there was no back stabbing. Pele gets my vote Maybe the club can restore its former glory and then get better

However I fail to understand, from what you have imparted thus far, the foundation that you are building your present campaign upon. Is this the new pastime? col_2 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Granby is the Kent Scoobies SIDC regional organiser. Kent Scoobies is a club in its own right, and needs someone to lead it, move it forward, help build up the membership and make it the top club that it is capable of being. Pele is the best man (woman) for the job. well said sidc is a great site, for the whole country, it has 12 Regional Areas & alot of members...... i first started to come on this site & i was a paid member more than once, just for one thing! because it had a section for kent people to meet & enjoy what we all like..... in my opinion i would sooner donate to just kentscoobies.com with the people in kent i know, that way i know my money would be going to kent & not all 12 Regional Areas!!!
mikkers Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Hugh is right - Pele seemed relieved to be free from it. What where eurekas and deans expectations for the club when she stepped down? It was, after all, their whispering campaign that outed her, so one would assume they had some idea of where they thought the club would go post pele. If the main area is raisng funds then Granby and Phil addressed this with an idea (the ONLY idea so far) but that seemed to be unsatisfactory to a couple of people. I suspect this has less to do with eurekas new found respect for pele and more to do with frustration and wanting to mix things up a bit. Either way criticising hugh for his valid opinion is not really on, out of everyone on here he is just about the most respected person here (probably down to his age lol!) and when he talks people should listen.
quentin_moss Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Ok my turn I am now on my 4th scooby and at each and every time I have owned one I have been to most of the meets, drive outs and shows. In all this time I can honestly say that the club was never better than when Pele was UNSELFISHLY running it, everything was organised and the amount of blood, sweat, tears and own money she has put into this club is astounding and I for one give my whole support to her being the one to regain that status we once had. Yes things take money but why dont we start a small contribution to Kent Scoobies to avoid her trying to find the money needed to run the club, I would rather contribute to the local club I use rather than invest in SIDC (sorry SIDC but its true) I remember the very first meet I ever attended and there was over 30 cars, the last one had about 10, everyone knew each other but Pele took the time to speak to me, introduce me to people and make me feel accepted, this doesnt seem to happen anymore I may alienate people with my views but skrew you if you dont like FACTS. There has been a lot that has gone on in the past but as most of us are adults im sure we can put that behind us and make a fresh Kent Scoobies start. PS has anyone asked Pele if this is what she wants???? Well whinge and big up over, im sure people will either agree or disagree and thats fine but lets not bicker for the sake of it.

Pele is the best man (woman) for the job. Might I be as BOLD to suggest then, that Kent Scoobies businees be conducted at www.Kentscoobies.co.uk as this thread could be most misleading to prospective members of the SIDC, in believing that Kentscoobies.co.uk is part of SIDC.co.uk which it isn't.

I am of the same opinion as you Colin, in that membership monies might be better used within the Kent Club. However we will need about £1200 to cover limited Public Liability Insurance. So we would need to attract a high number of members.

Same for me and as far is I am aware Pele still says Hi Hello and Welcome No I don't think Pele has been consulted about this, which might have been done first before this thread was posted Perhaps
quentin_moss Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I note you mention public liability insurance, why would we need that as its a voluntary thing to turn up at public places (I may be wrong in this???) If I arrange to meet my mates at the pub I dont need insurance Sure ive missed something but can u clear it up for me as i can be naive

And I know that you wouldn't wish a "Club" to start by being outside the Law especialy when you take into account that some of the SIDC (Kent members) are employed by Kent Constabulary. Need I say more
eureka Posted June 6, 2009 Author Posted June 6, 2009 Same for me and as far is I am aware Pele still says Hi Hello and WelcomeNo I don't think Pele has been consulted about this, which might have been done first before this thread was posted Perhaps has she not !!!!!

Need I say more Yeah that makes sense, best not go down that route then, although the club could stay affiliated with SIDC and that would cover the insurance wouldnt it? Also I have spoken to Pele and yes she is thinking about it and is interested in being more involved again, I wont say anymore as she is not at a computer but im sure she will let us know how she feels later
Scooby Hoo? Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 all shows this and last year by ks were arranged by ks not under sidc there for no insurance !!!! And as a none membership/fee paying none existent club that's just a gathering of like minded people and fine but as so as you have a membership, taking fees and a constituion that's a different ball game. You should know that Steve you do have your business.
tony_cousins Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 (edited) Might I be as BOLD to suggest then, that Kent Scoobies businees be conducted at www.Kentscoobies.co.uk as this thread could be most misleading to prospective members of the SIDC, in believing that Kentscoobies.co.uk is part of SIDC.co.uk which it isn't. If KENTSCOOBIES business is to be conducted elsewhere then maybe the whole section on the SIDC should be renamed or removed, as you have just pointed out its not sidc so the club name should not be here also ??? The name belongs to Pele, who took a small group of enthusiasts and turned it into a full club. I have always been a member of the club since it was in its infancy and the club when i joined was fantastic, members talked to everyone, there was no backstabbing or bitching and the events and meets were organised and arranged properly I dont see many events or meets like we had in the old days It has only been since newer members joined the club started to go wrong because there were too many people who thought they could run it better than a WOMAN, which is where the main problem was, if it was Arron or Hol there would be no problem. Even now new members look for a man when they hear the name Pele, only to be greated by a little blonde woman who knows more about the cars than alot of us do :madnoel: The first person i met when i joined was Pele then Arron and Hol, who were the founder members. But it was always Pele who run the club. To his credit Eureka who will admit it himself wanted Pele out but he has seen it is harder than it looks to run the club and has apoligised to her, which is why this thread was started. Maybe people should think a little and they will see that the club would be better run again by Pele, you need to have someone who has the heart to do it. But she does need the full support of the members which in the past she had 100%, then the club will go from the odd few loyal members to a thriving club once again.
