6 Speed Conversion And Some Other Bits

I picked my car up at about 4pm and got home at 10pm after a whole tank!

the 6 speed is really, really good fun - the car just feels so sharp and light, cos its always right in the twitchy bit of the power band

Mind you, I also uprated to the Helix Autosport 4.3 kg flywheel and organic clutch. The new flywheel is so responsive, no hint of resistance on approach to hills, no lumpy idle, no drawbacks at all - I stalled once at lights but just takes getting used to.

Got some gauges mounted today too, turns out its mapped at 1.6 bar of boost! No wonder if feels spritely :)

and lastly, also had to upgrade the entire rear hubs and drive too as part of the conversion, so i've finally got rid of those awful standard rear calipers and milk bottle tops, and got the 2pot brembos on now. They don't match the AP 6 pots on the front, but can't have everything! :brickwall:

All in all a very happy bunny B)

its difficult to say 'its finished', so I won't.. but for sure I got much closer to it today.

.. next maybe flocking and some kind of steering wizardry.. shorter rack? na.. i'll be happy until the finances recover! :P

I sure am jim!! I think steve was pretty happy with his work too by all accounts. :brickwall:

6 hours for one tank full? this has to be some kind of new SIDC record is it?

Yeah for sure, a whole tank, started with half, filled up in livi and have arrived home with half. Was in west lothian, then east lothian. East was better by far, also it was later so the roads were empty.

Yes peter, hopefully I'll not be working when the next SIDC day is on. And hopefully (very hopefully) I don't smash a 3rd gearbox in a row. Definately selling time in that case.

ha, yeah.. I might have to stay out on my own next time.. see if that helps my jinx. :rotfl: will you be taking yours round? did you take it to crail recently? KH should be kinder to your car than crail. ;)

:rotfl: It's all about the buzz of enjoying it who cares whos is quicker, Spoke to Stevie on the fone last nite and did say the 6 speed is much kinder, than the dog box, there is nothing better than modding and improving the car makes it all worth while and im sure you will enjoy it.

Im not too sure about that Steve, KN does put your car to the limits and the driver, with Crail great skill is required to get of the line and hitting the right gears, however knockers does stress the car and the driver a bit more .. :o in my oppinion which counts for nothing.. the more subys there the better..see u both there.

Chris

i've never actually been to crail yet, got it in my mind as a car breaker.. i suppose just due to the launch and not warming up the gearbox before stressing it etc. I thought at least at knockers you can go at your own pace and let everything warm up and cool down properly, no?

Cheers,

Well to be honest Chris i normally drive my car to any Crail or KH, and the drive up to crail is a nice one and on many occasions i have travelled up, there has always been something to keep you occupied :rotfl: on the onwards journey, by the time i get to Crail the car has been up and down the gears and well warmed up as there are a few straights that you can get a heavy foot :D and keeping to the speed limit obvisously... you need to give it a bash you will enjoy it..

Cheers

Chris.
