scoobzie Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 i have contacted the seller twice regarding the car and here is the 2 emails i got back how sus is this. the car is a 2004 sti type uk minted 4.100 quid 1st email Hi, The car is still available for sale,it is in perfect condition in and out,100% HPI clear with a certificate to confim, full service history. I just got married and moved with my Italian husband in Milan,Italy.I took the car with me so the car is currently here. I can`t use it in Italy because it has the wheel on the wright side and it would also cost me too much to register it here. It is still registered in the UK and since I have absolutely no use for it I am looking for a fast sale( this is why the low asking price) I can ship the car from here directly to your home address and I am also willing to cover all delivery expenses. I look forward to your reply Regards Michelle 2nd email Hi, I can use a specialized car shipping company that will provide you a tracking number( to verify online the shipment status) and also a 48hrs inspection period and the right to decline the car is it doesn`t satisfy your needs 100%.The delivery will take max 5 days I`ve used this company when I have purchased my 2006 BMW X5 from Germany and I was very satisfied with their services. They acted very proffesional and at very affordable costs The company works like a COD company, they will only require a proof from you that you have the cash available and you have a valid address before they will start the delivery. The car will be delivered at your home address by truck,it will come with all documents signed by me so you can easily transfer on to your name.all service records,V5 doc log book will be present and carefully verified. If you agree on the terms and you are sure about the purchase please let me know your full name and address for the delivery and I will inform you with all the details as soon as I have arranged the shipment. I am sure you will simply love the car and there won`t be any problems with the sale. I look forward to your reply Regards Michelle
scoobzie Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) email no.3 i asked why the car was on ph for 14 hours before add deleted. I have received over 80 e-mails for the car in one day and I simply can`t find the time to answer everyone`s enquiries....so I have decided to withdraw the car for a while I can organize the delivery anytime this week, all I need is your full name, address and contact phone number(s). I look forward to your reply and hopefully to a smooth sale. Michelle Edited May 13, 2009 by scoobzie
paddy247 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Theres one of these scams on pistonheads every other day, it could be somthing to do with these guys lol Edited May 13, 2009 by paddy247
karps Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Chrissy had the exact same emails when he enquired about a motor (not a scoob) on pistonheads. Scam sprung to mind then as well
stubaroo Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Same happened to me too, a couple of years back! Here's how our e-mails bounced back and forth: Me http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/224680.htm Can you confirm the price and your location, please? Stu in Scotland. Him Hello , Thank you for your interest in purchasing my car. The vehicle is in good condition, has no technical damage at all, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, no smoking. It's fun and robust to drive. Technical inspection and emissions testing is passed and stamped as well. It has title of ownership, cleared of any obligations or fees and comes with all the documents you need to register it. I have worked in UK for the last 2 years and I've purchased the car there. My company wanted me back home, so currently I'm in Rome, Italy. I've bring the car home with me. I decided that is better to sell it because I don `t use it anymore (the wheel is on right side and is very difficult for me to drive it in Italy) and it `s a pitty to keep such a car and not to use it. I realize that is a cheap price for such a car but my special situation makes me do things that I wouldn't do in normal Circumstances.I've wanted to register it here and keep it for me,unfortunately import taxes and European regulations made me change my mind. Now I am trying to sell it back too for such a low price because next week I have a deadline term for paying those taxes. The price I am looking for my car is £8,000 including the shipping costs, insurance and handling(delivery to EUROPE). You will not have to pay additional taxes for this. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have. Thank you and have a nice day! Me Hi Patrik, The car you are offering is exactly what i am looking for and i have been looking for a very long time now.The model, the colour, the year, the low mileage and the apparent condition of the car. However the deal you are proposing appears to be too good to be true! I doubt that i could agree to purchasing a car without having a look at it first and checking that it was indeed genuine. I am very curious about how such a sale could take place. The site (Pistonheads.com) that you are advertising your car on offers the following advise when buying a car: The criminal element are always keen to exploit car buyers and sellers so we alert you to the following scams that we're currently aware of: "Quick Sale Required" A scam that has emerged this year is from con artists claiming to have a reason for selling very, very quickly. Sometimes this is to do with a claim that they've had to move out to mainland Europe at short notice they say the are in a rush to sell and that the car is cheaply priced because of that. Bargain cars always attract a lot of responses, especially via email. The fraudsters then try to get potential buyers to send large deposits to secure either delivery of the car or first look at it. The car probably doesn't even exist - often the pictures have the number plates blanked out or inconsistencies. IF THE PRICE OF A CAR SEEMS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE - TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS! If anyone's ever in a hurry to sell a car they can sell it to a dealer at a knockdown price rather than punt it around the internet. If you could take the time to explain exactly how the car you are selling would be transferred to a buyer like myself back here in the UK, and the money you are asking for, would be transferred to yourself, that would be very much appreciated. Many thanks. Stu. Him Hi, I would like to use a shipping company for this deal, the process is very easy and I have just bought a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee and this is why I know how it works. This company will handle the delivery of the car and also they will handle all the registration papers. If we will use it you will have 5 days to inspect the car before you decide to buy it. I will pay delivery! The delivery time will be arround 3-4 days and the car will be delivered at your home address. In this time you will receive the tracking number of the transaction so you can use it to check the status on the company website. Let me explain you the whole proccess: First I will need your details, full name and address. As soon as I get the info from you I will take the car and go to the shipping company to transfer it in their custody. I will pay all the shipping charges. After the car is in their custody they will send you a confirmation and also payment instructions. They work as an escrow service and will hold the payment during the 5 days period for inspection. After the payment is confirmed to them, they will get the car to your home address and will also give you the documents of registration and the car will be left in your custody, in this period you can inspect the car, take it to a service for inspection and drive test it. After the 5 days period is over the shipping company will come to you and if you decided to keep the car you will transfer the documents on your name and after the car is registered on your name they will release the payment to me. If you decide not to buy the car they will get the car back and will send you a full refund of the payment. Please e-mail me with your decision and also your full name and address!! Thanks Me Hi, Thank you for taking the time to explain how this sale will work, your information appears to be very clear and concise. Can you give me the name of the company that will deal with the shipping and money transaction on this sale. This will allow me to see the best method of payment and also ensure that the company in question is reputable. Can I also have your full name and address. Once you send me this information I will take 24 hours to way up the proposed purchase of your car and give you my final decision. I will then give you my details if I decide to go ahead with the purchase of your car. Again many thanks, Stuart. Me How much road tax is remaining on the car? How much M.O.T. is remaining on the car? I would also appreciate the following information: VIN/chassis number ? Can be located in section 4 of the V5 Vehicle Registration Certificate. V5 Vehicle Registration Certificate serial number ? Can be located in the top right hand circle on the front of the V5 Vehicle Registration Certificate. Can you give me the name of the company that will deal with the shipping and money transaction on this sale. This will allow me to see the best method of payment and also ensure that the company in question is reputable. Can I also have your full name and address. And here endeth the communication!!!
craigdmcd Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I know a guy who got stung for £5500 for a Saab on a similar scam, but the car had been on E-bay. I would avoid this at all costs.
