C_WRX Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Is the "Y" pipe the same fitment size on the newage WRX intercooler and the STi intercooler ? Have WRX on at moment but if in future I upgrade to STi intercooler don't want to have to buy a new pipe.

Not sure about the size but i am sure the sti bit is better than the wrx one. Is the wrx one not made of plastic where the sti one is a smoother better quality alloy one?

Is the wrx one not made of plastic where the sti one is a smoother better quality alloy one? It's aftermarket item, Samco, so not bothered about the OEM stock item. Basically, the one fitted to my WRX intercooler just now can it be used (same fitment) if I were to upgrade to STi intercooler ?? Edited May 6, 2009 by C_WRX
scoobysailor Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I have an STi intercooler and alloy pipe on my WRX, I had an aftermarket silicone one on before with my WRX intercooler. They both look the same size to me. I'm pretty sure your one should fit an STi I/C. Remember you will need to use an STi undertray to get the most from the larger surface area of the STi I/C.
wulsey Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) They are both the same size mate. When i changed to the sti tmic it came with an alloy and red silicone hose on it. Edited May 6, 2009 by wulsey
C_WRX Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 Good good. A few pipes to change under the hood now me thinks
C_WRX Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 Good stuff. Well it's your fault really , but doubt I'll change quite as many hoses !! Do like your engine bay finish which pushed me to just get it done after thinking about it a while back.
