there weres supposedly a few skylines doing donuts, that got banned, but the outside on the surrounding roads, driving way too fast and irresponsible.

That's a real shame. A perfect venue too.

I may write to Brands management and try to convince them to give everyone one more chance.

Lets face it, if everyone is aware of respecting local residents I hardly think it will happen again.

May prove a good idea for a few more guys / girls to write in too !!

A letter of apology to the local residents might help

As a local resident I would support a well constructed letter that could outline:-

1. How this meet is to be policed.

2. What strategies will be put in place to ensure the local residents peace and quiet at all times during the meet.

3. What proposals would be implemented to ban anyone that violated driving laws and how would they be enforced.

And finally a strong case as to why Brands Hatch should be used and not any other venue/car park.

The major problem is always going to be the Loose Cannon element, you could have 300 cars turn up and 299 drive like there 99 year old grandmother is sitting in the passenger seat when they leave the circuit. It will be the one who thinks it doesn't apply to him that will spoil it for everyone. (which is where it's at now)

MotorSportVision have been putting a huge amount of time and resources into building a good relationship with the residents of West Kingdown and you will need a very strong case for them to put this relationship in jeopardy.

Having said that I would be happy to lend this my support once the ground has been cleared for liaison.

Yep, good idea, but how?

I think that you will need to get a small group of guy's together who will be prepared to marshall the meets and except full responsibility.

Compile a letter and drop it through every door of West Kingsdown.

perhaps endorsed by MotorSportVision

Might be a way forward.

To be fair I agree that the few IDIOTS that spoilt it should be banded, but surely its the organiser/s of this Jap meet to do the apologising not us? I was there with Tr3v, Eureka ect. and we left with all concideration to local residents and traffic laws so why should we, as a club have to apologise? If I have miss read the previous posts than ignore this but I dont feel that it should be down to us.

If you want the meets to be re-started, you need to be prepared to do whatever it takes. If it needs someone to take the lead, why not Kent Scoobies on behalf of the organiser's. Maybe a chat with the organisers for their view would be a good starting point.

Just my thoughts.

:icon_fU: a apology can go a long way and if we can get the ball rolling then why not

if we were to start the ball rolling then other clubs and attendees would follow suit. we were very well behaved, but as those idiots that werent well behaved arent likely to be bothered to apologise. maybe the should run a membership card scheme or similar. misbehave and loose your loyalty card or somthing....

i can understand this if it was one of our meets n people were pratting about then yeah we do something about it, but i feel that the presure should be put on the jap meet organisers, like i.e. The individual clubs let the event organiser/s know how we as clubs feel, and try and get them to do the letter writing n brown nosing. If any attention is brought on kent scoobies from brans then, brans may remember our name and choose not too have us entertain on there premasis for track days or future meets

I have a suggestion.

This event does sound to good to just sweep under the carpet. I think many of would agree on that.

I would be prepared (with some others), to distribute letters throughout what ever areas in question, and there is one guy on here that could write a letter that I think would work.

HUGH !! :)

If we can get another chance it will be worth it, and the guys responsible will this time know !!

it had potential to be a very good event, especially with talk of bbq's and track time usage in the summer months.

its the ideal venue for such events.

I think some one needs to find out the whole reason as to why it was cancelled and work with brands hatch as well as getting other clubs that attended quickly involved.

Dare i say it but maybe they could get a little more police interaction? although we mentioned we expecting to see loads on the way home, i didnt see a single car...... surely just their presence can be enough to calm this off a little the "kent interceptors" in their ford focus's lol as long as they werent spot checking cars left right and centre. im sure the odd bit of blue light syndrome would keep people on their toes and be better behaved

Good thoughts and ideas guys

BUT once these sort of events are binned that's probably it...

Whether WE and a few other japteams are well behaved and get it going again we can't police it and it would only take one c8ck in a [insert cheap jap car here!] to drive to the revlimiter and that's it again

We may be wellbehaved but as far as the residents (and brands hatch as an ongoing business) are concerned we are going to be seen as dangerous hooligans with no regard for other people- it is a stigma you can't lose with fast cars or bikes!

You could post letters to all saying sorry it will never happen again but I fear that we are tarred and there is no way back

BUT if we want to push on, because this could of been really brilliant, I'm happy to help.
