Emmisions Probs

Hi there, having trouble getting my 93 import through emmisions for mot. co's are high- about 6 . When I got the car it had full decat exhaust fitted. come mot I hobbled together a standard(ish) exhaust from various places but emmisions high, so I fitted a brand new full exhaust system including downpipe from an 03 sti that fitted straight on, but emmisions are still the same. Out of the three second hand standard downpipes and the new sti one they all have holes for a lambda probe in different places but I dont have a probe to fit in. Whats the second probe for? and is this my problem or could it be the one on the exhaust manifold? (its a three wire one). Any help would be great, ta.

An imported car manufactured before august 96 does not need a catalytic converter. How can you prove when your car was manufactured? look at the manufacturers tab on your seatbelts they are made within a couple of weeks of the car ! This information is readily available through VOSA. (The cat information not the seatbelt stuff)

Had a look on the vosa website but couldn't find anything there. Why does the car have or need two lambda's and does anyone know where I could get the second probe (the one on the downpipe-I dont have one) other than rip-off town and county!

Think the second hole is for a temperature sensor, my replacement Cat had one, but I blanked it off. CO2 is usually a Cat problem, check all the flanges are sealed up properly, as one not sitting quite right can suck air into the Exhaust and put the readings off.

I bought a replacement Llambda sensor from www.camskill.com, about £70 posted compared to the £250 odd from the stealer.
