stuarted Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Someone on another forum has mentioned the above may be too thick for my car. It's a P1 with a TD05-20G and supporting mods running with a mocal oil cooler. Got Defi's and the highest temp i've seen so far is around 85 degrees. I do most of the SIDC track days at Knockhill and was planning to do some Track Scotland days and maybe Hot Marques. Whats your thoughts? Cheers
arch Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I ran Millers CFS 10W60 in my race RA last year so I would say it is spot on

stuarted Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 Cheers Arch. I can remember checking when I got it mapped a couple of years ago and all advice then was that it was the stuff to use if it was going to be tracked. Always keep an eye on the temp guage to make sure it's up to temp before using any boost
cullenmin Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) I run that all the time. Its better suited to older (classics) with non standard bhp. Keeping track temperatures at 85 degrees is good going. Where is your oil cooler mounted? Rich Edited March 13, 2009 by Cullenmin
craigdmcd Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 10W-60 isn't doing it any harm, but I prefer to use Silkolene 10W-50, as I don't think that you will get the oil too hot to bother with the 60 part. Actually, with your oil cooler set-up, you could possibly get away with a high quality 5 or 10W-40.
upsoluteSTi Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 my previous oil was Millers 10W-60 and noticed temp always sit between 95-100 degree. Since changed to Silkolene pro S 5W-40 2 weeks ago the temp drop to 85-90 degree.
