hammy131 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi I have had several sets of wheels and tyres on MY03 Blobeye WRX and have noticed that the drivers side tyre always wears on the inside! The alignment has been done numerous times so can't be that! I am just about to get a new set of wheels on so would really appreciate any advice on this! Any one else have the same problem?
paul555sti Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 If you have had the same problem with several sets of tyres then i would get the alignment and geometry checked again. Who has checked it in the past? Take it to dunc at hypertech or progrip in bonnybridge and get it checked out. It will cost less than a set of tyres.
corsa Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Right man for the right job. PROGRIP all day long. davie

Try going to progrip and getting laser alignment just like I need laser treatment on my eyes due to my S U B A R U spacing lol! Edited March 12, 2009 by Shelly_Scooby
mystery machine Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 You could try going around roundabouts in the opposite direction to help even things out a bit Seriously though, the tyres that were on my motor when I bought it had done ~13K and were all worn badly on one edge (front worn on opposite edge from rear). Had to be replaced within weeks of buying the car. I've since had the wheels aligned and the new set appear to be wearing evenly after a further 10K. Who's doing your wheel alignment?
mystery machine Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Try going to progrip and getting laser alignment just like I need laser treatment on my eyes Do ProGrip do the laser eye treatment too? Jings - they're a versatile bunch, I'll give them that. Nae wonder half the population of Bonnybridge claims to have seen flying saucers dancing about in front of their coupons! Having said that, you don't see too many cross-eyed folks in Bonnybridge - perfect pupil-to-pupil alignment
scouk Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) Hi I have had several sets of wheels and tyres on MY03 Blobeye WRX and have noticed that the drivers side tyre always wears on the inside! The alignment has been done numerous times so can't be that! Simple.. if the tyres are wearing out prematurely like that your camber is either off by quite a bit or your not doing enough left hand cornering! Just because someone can do alignment doesn't mean they know how to do it right! I'd definately get it done after fitting new wheels/tyres.. Also Progrip is probably the place to go.. Give them an idea of your driving style and they should be able to adapt the settings to suit.. You will get more cornering grip with more camber, but you will wear out the edges of the tyres quicker.. It's a trade off.. BTW - The famous "Prodrive" settings are to harsh for public roads and were known to wear out the insides of tyres due to the 1.1degree of camber! Standard settings are 0.3degrees IIRC but ideally somewhere aroudn 0.6 and 0.9 is a good balance for road use.. Edited March 13, 2009 by ScoUK
Frank_STI Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I have the prodrive tarmac rally settings on mine and the inside of my tires are well worn but its only about an inch thats worn on them. the outside of the tires are like new.
