m@tt untimate STImulation Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 yes they have £1500 inculding V.A.T for the head gaskets skiimin belts everythin and £370 for the oil cooler, and filters oil changes so ive done nearly 2k and i have nothing to show for it.

You can't just let the other firm walk away from this. I can see where you're coming from and want your car back on the road but surely you haven't got bottomless pockets? You can't let the matter just rest. If the second firm find a fault, get them to do you a complete report and try and resolve the issue with the original garage - failing any refund, suggest you speak to Trading standards
PR08RAD Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Ouch ! gutting i know mate. I'd find out your legal standings, regards warranty and the job not being complete then would write the garage a very strong and stern letter, keeping it professional and curtious still detailing your dissapointment and annoyance. They have had there chances, and either havent done a good job each time OR your car has a deeper underlying problem they cant spot. either way, you are not the mechanics.... they are... you only go on what they tell you, you paid your money as per their request , for the quoted repairs to be undertaken. they have not upheld their end of the bargain and fixed the car, nor can they offer an explanation as to why it keeps going bad. seek financial compensation from them and go elsewhere, but beware you may need open cheque book approach from now on.

In all honesty it would appear that the garage you use are not familiar with Subaru's. If the oil cooler is not the root of the problem or corse. Then the old one should be put back at there expense, after all they are the technicians with the expertise and you have paid for items that they guest were broken. I think it would not be unreasonable to expect them to be more professional and admit that they don't know what is wrong with your car and refund some of the costs. m@tt untimate STImulation Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 i have sent it back to them today just said i am getting frustrated with it going in and out and being 2k down and the same problem it went in with still remains. he replied he will have a look and ring me as soon as he knows what is what. I see it as there last chance. then the only way foward is small claims court to get my money refunded or for them to pay some1 with a brain to carry out the work. its annoying because i have gone for the second dearest quote i had. im only on £200 a week as an aprentice so its a very large amount of money to me.
Scooba-Steve Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Scooby Hoo? said: In all honesty it would appear that the garage you use are not familiar with Subaru's. One of the two mechanics there has owned a fair few subaru's, one being used as a track car (old school scooby) and also not long ago sold his newage. Which is strange that matts problems have not been solved I have always used this garage for every car ive had and have never had any problems, I took the sti there for the cam-belt service, albeit £500 but still i was unaware of any other trustworthy garages at that time, ( Since then ive been pointed in the direction of Mr.Larking whom im yet to seek ) To be honest im shocked that the garage have not sorted this problem and matt i would go with what other people are saying with the letter and maybe ringing up for some advise from the trading standards or something. This has un eased me about using their services on the scooby

fudge Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 (edited) A good friend of mine had exactly the same issue. He has a TVR Cerbra and took it to Guglielmi Motor sport and over heated on way back. After about 20 miles he returned to G M S and they would not admit to anything. Currently having heads sorted out somewhere else for £ 4K !! Consulted a solicitor regarding the issue.................. useless. No joy He could not PROVE it was GMS that caused the damage. Edited March 18, 2009 by skullfudge
m@tt untimate STImulation Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 it is verry hard to prove anything, it looks like he has fixed the headgasket when it was 100% in the first place he even told me they looked in good condition after the work had been carried out. the money hurts me alot but having no car is far worse
swifty1981 Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 hello mate i have a stripped block if u need one
