Help With Fitting Gauges

Recommended Posts

Is there anybody who would be willing to help me fit my gauges as i'm not too confident fitting them by myself. Have seen a guide on the internet which looks easy but would just like someone is a lot more mechanically minded than me

I've fitted the boost so just need to wire that up, its the oil temp and pressure sender things that need plumbed in

have you got a sandwich plate for the temp and pressure gauges

best place to wire all gauges to is the cig lighter

and run some in line fuses for piece of mind

where you going to fit temp switch to ?

and never seen adapter from lma where does this fit?

only seen sandwich plate as takes both temp and preesure

the oil temp adapter is like a sump plug that replaces a blank one over cyclinder 3 under the intercooler, and ther oil pressure is a piece of braided hose with a brass t-piece which goes under the alternator

I had two senders for temperature and pressure similar to these.

The temperature was a sump plug type device but instead of putting it in the blanking plug in cylinder number 3 I had it fitted into the existng sump (after a bit of work) plug to get a better temperature reading.

The pressure sender was fitted into the blanking hole for cylinder number 3 without any hassles.

I didnt use the blanking plug under the alternator as it was easier to use the existing sump plug.

Depending on what model you are putting the sensors on be careful of a sandwich plate!

I have just fitted prosport gauges to my Bug eye and used the sandwhich plate and it's not very good to be fair. The gauge reads fine when the car is sat still but it appears the sensor is a little bit sensitive and the air flow over the sensor gives it a false reading so when you sat in still it will rise to 84-90 whatever degrees and then when you start moving it drops right down to 70 degrees on mine so I am now having to purchase an oil gallery adapter to fit the sensor on the back of the block away from any air flow!

the sandwich plate is fine if you are just looking for somewhere to fit the pressure sensor BUT depending on the size of the pressure sensor you may need to buy an extension pipe (like a rad extender) to put the sensor in a sensible place as it is tight under there ( I had to fit a 2" enxtnesion to get it out of the way)

ahh I have just seen you are fitting this to a bugeye...... If you are using a pos to replace the clock the easiest wiring you can use is the clock wiring, it is plenty hefty enough and it has all the connections you need.
