I Don't Believe It . . . .

. . having got the car back all nicely repaired I had another fecking accident on the way in to work tonight :icon_salut: Following a car along the Old Kent Road which suddenly stopped, no brakes, the driver jumped out and ran off leaving two women sitting in the car. Women get out, apologise and say 'don't know whats got into him'. His bumper has pushed the front of mine in breaking the nearside headlight and creasing the bonnet - all the lights still working though and nothing else seems amiss - the bumpers still in one piece even though its taken the impact mainly because I'd managed to slow sufficiently. As he threw his door open he clipped the wing mirror of a passing car driven by a civvy police woman so needless to say the local cops will be paying him a visit - leaving scene etc. They couldn't be bothered to attend scene as no one injured. Ironically not an effing mark to his ****-heap of a vectra :(

Had booked to go to Amsterdam and Bruges week after next but thats had to be cancelled now as we'll not get car sorted by then :D

aaaahhhhh thats unreal mate .........running off!!!!!! whats all that about lol????? :D

No idea - think it was a domestic as fat bird said he'd just got up and she was on her way to work at the lard factory (not sensing any bitterness here are we?) Perhaps he wanted to stay on the couch all day and she wanted a lift to work. Her equally fat mate couldn't throw any light on it either. To be fair though, they were both very apologetic about his behaviour although that don't get the car repaired and my week away back on track does it. Gits :(

As I hit his heap of s**t, his door was already open and I'd assumed he'd perhaps hit something or someone, but no, he was doing a runner.

Bit peeeed off the old bill didn't do a bit more, especially as a copper pulled up a few minutes afterwards - seems they don't get involved unless anyones hurt - should have rolled about pretending I was injured :icon_salut: Still, drivers been reported as failing to stop so hopefully they'll get involved now

Insurance company being a pain - whose side are they supposed to be on? I accept that I am regarded as being at fault (albeit I do not accept responsibility) as I ran into the rear of the other car however they don't seem as if they want to listen to my account of events. Any sensible advice and opinions would be appreciated.

I'm driving along Old Kent Road - no more than 25mph as just pulled away from lights and approaching speed camera. Car in front pulls off left, across bus lane, into side turning - there was no need for him to brake so he just indicated and went. Unknown to me and visibly obscured by that car, was my victim, 'parked' in front of him in the middle lane - no lights on, no hazards, sweet FA. I noticed driver was out the car, braked but still ran into his car. I assumed he was already out of his car as he'd perhaps hit someone/something but no, he'd obviously had a domestic with his woman and had decided to get out and leave her to it. He was totally oblivious to my hitting him and would have walked off even if he'd been the only motor on the road. He'd just thrown his car door open and left -he even managed to hit the door mirror of a passing car. Ins Co reckon I've hit an 'unattended' car? Surely its only unattended in so far as he'd just got out - unattended to me is a car parked up with no one with it? The woman and her mate then got out the car and said that she'd got no idea what had got into him - she said that until that incident he was her partner!

Although the bloke clearly acted like a right knob, it seems the Ins Co aren't interested - I stand to shell out the excess on the claim and possibly don't get a courtesy car. To rub salt in the wounds, didn't leave a mark on his old vectra. Peeeed off

Spoken to the Ins Co again and put forward my case - although they now concede it can't really be regarded as an unattended car and they offer sympathy, even though they accept the bloke was a to55er all they can do is put my case to his insurers and so we await their comment. Looks like I stand to lose my excess, cost of shuttle for next weeks trip to Europe which has been cancelled, no courtesy car. Meanwhile he gets off scot-free. Who says there's no justice any more :icon_salut:

I hear what you're saying Barry, as I am in talks with my insurance Co from when I collided with a car in a narrow country lane last year when in my van.

In my case it was the other drivers fault as he was on my side of the road, even so, MY OWN Ins Co wants to pay out and have me to blame.

All they want is an easy life, and unfortunately it's easier and cheaper for them to say F**k you/me and pay up.

But when you hit another car thats in front of you, well there's no getting out of it.

Good luck though
