External Wastegates?

Is your engine pretty much standard?, because if it is that would be complete overkill and unnecessary. Most external wastegates are only needed when you are talking about high gas flows and boost pressures, as the standard internal wastegates cannot cope. Also the cost of fitting it would be pretty big tbh, and outweigh the benefits.

Was only looking realy, as going to start on the engine nxt year after I get the handling side sorted this year, am idealy looking to upgrade her up to about 350bhp and was just seeing what was on the market and calulating costs.

not forgetting pistons, rods, 350 still low to need a external wastgate!

That was till I met you lot, its infectious :D Could anyone give me a rough figure on how much that lot would cost? Japspees do a front mounted cooler for £300, and found sone nismo injectors on ebay for £380 any other recomendations

i would say about 6 grand will do what you asked for

if youre looking at 350Bhp then an external wastegate is about as necessary as a parrot dropping piston!

echo what KP above says, theyre NEEDED on high flow engines that are producing serious BOOST PRESSURES, because as we all know, what goes in MUST come out, and a normal penny type wastegate will just blow open at those pressures. Hence the need for external wastegate.

The cost involved is high.

Firstly you require a turbo that does not have integral Wastegate housing, then a completely different manufactured up-pipe with branch tee'd for the EW fitment.

Then you require a Downpipe made with another branch Tee, and made precisely so that when it bolts to the flange of the turbo output, the tee's flange fits to the output of the External wastegate.

This is not something thats easy for everybody to do.

Personally, theyre not something you need to be contemplating!!

LOL - Thats a blatent HKS copy - it even comes in the same box and foam lay-out. I pointed it out to the guys at HKS Europe and they say that the market has been inundated with that kind of stuff since the GBP became so weak against the Yen.

We've now begun a policy of refusing to fit 'copied goods'. Not worth the hassle but £150 is dirt cheap.

Big question is.... do you get what you pay for?

You can get 330bhp for roughly £2773 + vat. A new air freshener and some neons will get you the other 20bhp.

Thanks for everybodys help as you could probably tell I know sod all about engine work. Looks like i got some saving to do not sure how to go about the ecu. injectors intercooler are sorce for an easy £700, but the ecu I just dont know what to do?
