spot2 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Good day one and all, I have been a member for 6 months now (although i was an equally inactive member for two years previously)and have finally plucked up the 'courage' to post! (And it's a monster!!) I am in my fourth year of Scooby ownership and am now on my second Impreza. I currently have a lightly modded 54 plate WRX which i bought standard from Eden Subaru, Cupar in March of last year. I have a query regarding upgrading the current suspension set-up and any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I currently have Tein Superstreet coilovers (without the topmounts) fitted which are currently running about 40-45mm lower than the standard set-up. I am using 10mm Eibach spacers (all round) with the OE alloys and tyres. I have recently bought a new set of 17x7.5" Compomotive TH3 alloys which i plan to fit whilst still using the spacers. I also hope to lower the coilovers further. I appreciate that i will have to have the cars castor/camber rectified to take this into consideration. However, the more i have looked into this, the less i seem to understand (or indeed if it would work at all). Would Whitelines' Anti-lift kit rectify the front? (i had this fitted to my previous Impreza) however i am clueless as to what might work at the rear. I live in Thurso but would be willing to travel anywhere in Scotland (preferably Perthshire/Fife area as i have family there) to get the parts fitted and suspension 'fettled'. If you have got this far- thank you for sticking with what must be the longest first post in history!! Any help on any aspect of the above issues would be superb Thanks in advance Graham (Spot2)
ciaranrb5 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Well if it was me i would be going to http://www.awdmotorsport.co.uk/ They are based in Perth and used by alot of people on here including me. Best to give them a phone and they will tell discuss your options.
emoe Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Suspension setup can m,ake a car or totally ruini a car. Its not simple and unless you have a lot of experience in suspension and the effects, its best left to a pro. I did mine, took me all damn day with runs up and down and an afternoon at Mallory for final set up. Do as these guys say and get it to a decent tuner.
scooby222 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 for fitting go with awd or hypertech, perth or bonnybridge, and for setup hypertech or progrip. my car came from eden too and i wouldnt trust them to set up a paper bag! i was advised by the very knowledgeable importer of whiteline that the anti lift kit and rear diff lock bolts were the best parts to fit. also adjustable top mounts would help a lot too,but i would think carefully before lowering the car any more if its already 45mm down. hope that helps a bit and welcome!! should pop down for the snowman and meet a few of us
spot2 Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 Thank you all for your help with this. I was initially concerned that nobody would reply to my post but i am thrilled with the response. I will indeed be travelling down for the Snowman rally so hope to meet some of then. A big thank you to the Cusco Kid also and apologies for calling so late!!
