When you have given over 6 years of commitment to a club to then be treated as I have in the last year it sort of boils over. I have tried to word this a bit better as being diplomatic is not my strong point somethimes.... Baser - I could have guessed you would be the first to reply. All the points above were made because that is what I have done in order to run KentScoobies, and that is the level of commitment I was willing to give until people started questioning everything I did. I would quite happily give this commitment again, but from the lack of support for me on here I don’t think I’m wanted around here. I didn’t know I was co-Regional Organiser, when did that happen? Ian has replied to the issue of being co-organiser in his post - this was indeed agreed at that meeting at The Wharf ages ago and probably without him agreeing to jointly take over the reins there would likely have been other members left at that point. I cannot comment upon your level of commitment in the past although I gather from others that you (with Aaron and Andy?) were instrumental in getting the club up and running in the first place. I have always been concerned, as have others, with your commitment in more recent years. As I said in my initial post we all have other things that take up our time and money and prevents us from attending meets be they Kent Scoobies or otherwise. At that meeting at The Wharf you admitted you'd had personal and financial problems and it was suggested that perhaps you should take a back seat from the club leadership for a while in a hope this would relieve some of the pressure you were otherwise under; you would of course have always still been there for advice be it relative to an event or a car. But no,instead of agreeing to this you were adamant you were going to continue -perhaps too proud to let go I don't know? For this reason Ian was asked to step up and share the load and to date he has done an admirable job. If anyone is deemed to be the leader, organiser or whatever you call them, of any club or organisation I personally do not feel its unreasonable for its members to expect that person to attend events and such like and sadly you were very rarely seen. You'd often put your name down but there'd always be a reason why you'd not turn out. I agree that its frustrating trying to organise something only for too few people to be interested - I cancelled the proposed trip to Bruges last year due to lack of interest and despite spending time sorting out routes, possible accommodation, shuttle times, cost and so on. Enough has now been said about all this - step down and let someone else head up the club, but stay around and offer advice

I had read all the thread and was fully aware that you were stepping down; my comment was merely intending to accept this was the best course of action but clearly even that you've chosen to pick up on. If you want to start a seperate thread go ahead. . .
yogi- Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 New people or potential new members reading this wont bother joining the club the way you lot go on, why don't you all meet up somewhere and discuss this in private. There shouldn't be a "leader" it's a club for all of us and who have a say and if there is a problem which needs discussing then do it off the forum. IMO you understand
mikkers Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 To any potential new members i would say iv been going to meets for about 8 months and every single one has been friendly and i have not seen any arguements or even disagreements. Dunks has headbutted me a few times though.

IMO you understand Its not a private issue that needs to be resolved - I merely commented on remarks posted by Pele that I felt were totally unwarranted and from the tone of subsequent postings there were clearly others on here that agreed. We had a meeting ages ago at The Wharf to thrash out issues within the club but sadly only 20 or so managed, or bothered, to turn up. Pele has now chosen to step down so there's probably nothing further that needs to be discussed. Edited January 9, 2009 by BASER999

IMO you understand I totally agree with the above. I spent about 12 months hunting down the perfect scoobie at a price I could afford and during all that time I regularly visited the site to read the banter which made me very excited about owning a scoobie. However, if I'd had read such a public argument then I seriously would have thought twice.

But you would still have bought a Scoobie Well some times it's good to know that you are joining a club that airs it's dirty washing in public and is prepared to take open criticism for the good of the whole club. Kent Scoobies is not a club run by a hierachy with members not being allowed to voice an opinion. I think that's about right, until someone tells me different. Kent Scoobies is a GREAT CLUB, it's just the members that let it done
HOL Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 LOL, I can see how that got out of hand. Simple misinterpretation. SIDC and Kent Scoobies are not the same entity. We have an agreement with SIDC to have a Kent Scoobies forum on their site. Essex Scooby Crew and some other independent clubs made a similar agreement with Scoobynet. Granby is the official 'SIDC' Regional Organiser for the Kent area. If you look on the SIDC site, you will see that most 'regions' have one. Pele 'was' the Kent Scoobies 'Chairperson/Organiser - whatever you want to term it' and her remit is 'local' events. Split roles were agreed on that basis, with Granby organising attendance to SIDC scheduled events, monitoring this site on behalf of SIDC and Pele organising 'KS' events like rolling roads etc.... I appreciate if no-one ever told you, you could (easily) jump to the wrong conclusion.
