uno turbo Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 hello everyone, happy new year, sorry not been on for a while.... i have an 03 plated wrx with 215/45/r17 wheels and tyres, and have just sourced a set of nearly new hawkeye sti gold 10 spoke alloys, which in the brochure are said to have 225/45/r17 tryes. i would like to put these size on to the rims, and am just wondering if this will cause any scrubbing and such, or even if there the correct offset for my car... sorry to ask such a simple question, its just im completely inempt with these things, and a main dealer wasnt much help.... thanks in advance for any advice given.... rich..
granby Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 If i remember correct the hawkeye STi wheels have a different PCD 114.5 instead of 110 so the wheels wont fit your car, can't see there being any problems fitting 225/45/17's on your wheels but you won't know 100% until they are fitted to see if they rub anywhere
RATechnology Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I'd have thought that your car would have had 5 x 100PCD with an offset of somethong like ET48? Hawkeye's have 5 x 114 PCD with a similar offset, which means thaey won't fit? Someone else may like to comment on that but i'm sure i'm correct in that. I only hope i'm wrong and they will fit.... Tyres should be ok. May have a slighty different rolling radius which could put your speedo out a fraction.. Have you taken delivery of these new wheels as yet?
uno turbo Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 i have got them yes, but no money has changed hands yet so if the offstet is wrong then i havent lost out on any money. will some sort of spacers cure the offset problem?????
RATechnology Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 ps thanks for the advice so far..... I'd bail out of this sale if possible. As posted above even with the correct offset these wheels will not fit. They have a stud fittment of 5 x 114. your car will be 5 x 100. Putting it simply they won't fit around the studs.
Scooby Hoo? Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Hi Uno Turbo. Nice to see you about again, like the guy's have already said the wheels are a no no. You could swop the tyres over but dew to the different size the tyres would not offer the some level of performance as the standard size. But if your getting a cheap set of tyres and your not tracking the car then you probable wouldn't notice a lot of difference. Try and made a meet this year

emoe Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) Spacers to fix the offset wont help at all, because the wheels will physically not fit. the center diameter of the bolt holes is completely different. edit to say: DARN!!! sorry ill just repeat what others have said!!! My apologies! Edited January 7, 2009 by emoe
