baser999 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 As expected another very busy night at work - we took our 1000th call for an ambulance at 01.56 and our 2000th at 03.35, so generally averaging 600 calls an hour - most of the calls had the words . . . floor, lying, drunk, fallen, assaulted. . . . in them somewhere so clearly there was a lot of people had a good time This contrasts with the build up to Christmas when we usually do around the 4000 mark a day!

We even had a call from someone who's mate had collapsed due to 'an allergic reaction to alcohol' Now that really is pee-taking at its finest!

Not meant to be patronising in any way but I think the emergency services are greatly underestimated and most certainly not praised for their dedication and efforts!! So just to do my bit I take my hat off to you all!! Edited January 1, 2009 by Shiralee

You and Rachel best bear this in mind if you need an ambulance to get her to maternity - go midweek

m@tt untimate STImulation Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 i kno all about muppity who got nothing beter to do than key my car and sevral others in the road i parked in
matthew_buckland Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 My nephew is an ambulance technician, loving his job, but does get a few pointless call outs, they all do sterling work, hopefully when the real emergency call comes throu they are able to attend and not be at someones house because they are drunk. Matt sti sorry to hear your car got keyed, have they really got nothing better to do, Marty had his door mirror ripped clean off by a pedestrain last week, had to replace mirror, holder everything.
kaan_ors Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I have to say that my pet hate is calling out an ambulance for a drunk especially when they are running to full capacity and really can't cope with the volume of calls. Unfortunately the emergency services are so liable now that if you ignore someone and they fall over or get run down then there is a lot of paperwork to complete! It appears that we are raising a nation of people that are completely incapable of taking responsibilty for their actions and are always looking to blame someone else.
T123VOR Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I read someone say they phoned 999 cos they couldnt get through on the Xfactor vote line! what a KN0B
