The only thing I can think of is that by fitting the slightly more restrictive airbox and filter the amount of air brought into the engine even at idle is reduced so the mixture would get richer, the ecu wil compensate for this by trying to indroduce more air, hence the higher idle, you could try an ECU reset (if the car has been mapped for the induction kit this may not work), if it does not work remove the airbox and you will see a pipe coming out of the wing, this is your resinator box ( air intake silencer ) if you remove that from the wing then open up the hole on your airbox so that it is roughly the same size as the hole in the wing ( you will see a rubber skirt on the airbox that would have fitted round the pipe coming from the wing, cut the rubber portion away and the hole should be big enough ) you now have a cold air induction kit using the OEM airbox and the idle should be normal. I run this on one of my scoobs with a Pipercross panel filter and have had no issues.

High idle can also be caused by an air leak, have a good look at all the small pipes off of your intake manifold and ensure they are fitted securely at both ends and are not damaged.

still no luck with my scooby, checked all pipes and hoses, reset ecu but still idles high. so im gonna put my hks induction back on, does anyone now if i have to put oil on the filter , as i took it off because the car was cutting out with it on, i think the sponge may be clogged up. any help would be welcome. scoobienut

I would recommend leaving having the standard air filter fitted until the fault is resolved mate, have you checked the ecu for fault codes yet mate?

Does the car idle smoothly @ just over 1000k

you can adjust the tickover by turning the valve on top of the inlet manifold had this problem b4 take valve off and wipe out and refit all i did after checking all the pipes for any leaks
