mic Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 What advantage does an FMIC have over a decent top mount, say an sti 7/8/9 one? Won't be running more than 400bhp Cheers, Michael
ryan_gwa Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Better volumetric efficiency for your engine, as there is a greater area for heat dissipation. Running a small turbo would create more lag due to the larger/longer pipework?
sti pretender Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Jimser is still on a top mount with well over 400.
scoobzie Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 advice from andy f if you just do quarter mile stick with top mout as ie lag and that are a minimum only go front mount if you do track days or drive on the roads top mounts heat up to quickly for the track and you lose power that was how he defined it for me
mic Posted December 26, 2008 Author Posted December 26, 2008 Cheers guys, probably best with fmic then
Guest CRAIG D Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 i found with my last scooby that once you get over say about 90mph the air which goes over the scoop rather than through it. it used to sent the temp gauge up a few notches suppose then impreza's were more low to mid range cars. Then i moved to a fmic and deffo noticed the differance
