My Wagon Project, Nearly Finished!

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have had this wagon just over 2 years, it started life as a 220ps auto wrx my94, it was converted to a manual by pennine subaru before i bought it, i put a v2 sti engine in last winter, and over the last couple of months put in a new AF20G turbo with just about all supporting mods, was mapped by Bob Rawle last saturday to an estimated 380/360 at 1.5 bar!, will be doing a power run in the new year to get the real figures, very pleased with the result, smooth good power from it now.

There have been a few ups and downs getting here though!.

Some mods include, 3" exhaust straight through, GT Spec 2 headers DEI wrapped, AF20G Turbo, fmic, Aeromotive fpr, parallel fuel rails, inlet manifold insulators, coolant tank insulators, Simtex ecu with switchable maps, while driving!, warlbro 255, catch can, carbon can removal, mafless (just need to get a replacement pipe for it!), no BOV at all, 2004 gearbox, samcos throughout, simota induction kit, etc.

Will need to fit an anti lift kit, and have just managed to source some near new P1 suspension to go on, still need to sort ABS removal, and induction heatshield, also new clutch!.

Let me know what you think!

What sort of power are you looking for if ya dont mind me asking

Bearing in mind the car has been mapped on the road by Bob Rawle the estimated figures are 380bhp 360ft/lbs torque, Going by the run I had last night the figures wont be far off this on the dyno ;)

Thaks for all the replies!, she was flying until she developed an air leak somewhere which is really bugging me and i cant find it, causing 2300 revs on idle, could be rail to IM seal, not sure yet, will try and sort it at the weekend.

Is the idle lumpy at all mate?

Wow nice work on the mods :)

How did you find the car to drive with the catch can and carbon canister removed, did you vent the catch can output to atmos or recirc back into the intake? Do you find any weird smells with the vented gases from the canister removal and/or vented catch can gases, I dont want to gas myself whilst driving  I spied a mini air filter on the rhs of the engine bay, is this the catch vent ?

I've been toying with the idea of doing the same thing. I've made a homebrew catch can for a few quid and all the connecting pipework but not had the time to fit it as yet.

Where did you get the inlet manifold insulators from?

Cheers,

Colin

Hi mate, i vented the catch can to air, you can smell it a bit, under bonnet mainly, doesnt come into the car.

The insulators are from roger clark.

i found my air leak to be a crack in the inlet manifold, must have overtightened a bolt by hand!, going to order a new inlet on monday, with new insulators and bolts.

all i can say is BALLS!!!
