spannaz Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 is the wagon not slightly different then ? Sorry to thread hi jack, but does any one know if its easy to get the front door cards off? anything to be aware off, breaking clips and such like? oh thats a doddle mate, had mine off and sound deadend, new speakers the lot in next to no time? anyone wanna buy some gauges, rear ARB, some springs, lmfao!
PR08RAD Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 what size are front speakers? 13 or 16.5 cm ??
granby Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 yeah this is 24 mm and from a 2003 saloon. Think it bolts to the Outside of the links rather than the inside due to the size of the bar! compared to the standard one...... its HUGE!!! Perrin 25mm rear ARB (they list only one for all newages) on mine
spannaz Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 see the one i have does NOT bend back in like that. So i can only assume it's off a diff model.
granby Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Don't know, can't it be bolted to the other side of the droplink
spannaz Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Don't know, can't it be bolted to the other side of the droplink possibly, but have been advised this can be too aggresive change to the suspension and understeer etc, and as the wife is driving it, well, just thought maybe not sucha good idea! lol
spannaz Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 what size are front speakers? 13 or 16.5 cm ?? i went ofr 16.5cm with a 18mm mdf spacer, some sound deadening and job done, although did have a little help with the previous owner installing some infinity 13cm components so all the x over and wiring had been done.
eureka Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 oh i'd be happy with a bit of trimming, but the guy was suggesting I "glue" the pod to the dashboard!!! Told him he was mad, but he rekons that's what your suppose to do, so again pointed out the nearest loony bin! Will now purchase the "proper" item from Scoobyparts, and start again! same as mine to fit used silicone to mould shape and just sits in the hole now no probs
granby Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 possibly, but have been advised this can be too aggresive change to the suspension and understeer etc, and as the wife is driving it, well, just thought maybe not sucha good idea! lol Have to agree if you don't have any other suspension mods, it wouldn't be understeer though it would of been oversteer (much more fun )
eureka Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 gotta say i agree with you. The worst thing really is the state of the pod. How anyone can sell these even remotely thinking they are goint to fit really does amaze me. Have seen a rather neater looking version at scoobyparts, all be the best part of £90 but then even deffi's in a cheap surround will look pants, so might as well start right. Seem's no end of "bad" buys this week, Rear ARB- to wide, guages-crap, and possibly the TEIN springs i got may also be diff for a wagon, mind the springs were a bargain at £20! lol me and dazzler fitted on of these pod to a car a while age nice pod but i was not keen on the colour match or texture of the finish
spannaz Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 same as mine to fit used silicone to mould shape and just sits in the hole now no probs do you mean the ebay one needs to be glued or the decent one from Deffi? i laid this in the dash, but the centre just sat up wayt too hihg, so much so you can see the wires underneath it

That sounds good as I have some brand new alpine type R componenets 16.5cm I wanna get in there, as long as there is enough room I dont mind trying to get em to fit, will bin the original head unit now then too. and swap mirrors at same time
spannaz Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Have to agree if you don't have any other suspension mods, it wouldn't be understeer though it would of been oversteer (much more fun ) erm, yeah but NOT when the wife is pregnant! lol could be messy!

spannaz Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 well this is the unit as it arrived, and this is how it looks with "BEST" fit
eureka Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 well this is the unit as it arrived, and this is how it looks with "BEST" fit lol not good that
spannaz Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 no, hence why the seller has now agreed to refund me £45 so i can replace it. I will put these funds towards a new pod, DEFFI one and do it properley, it maybe an extra £45 odd quid but i think in the long run worth it. Could not bring myself to silicone the unit in, maybe i am just too fussy but what if i want to take it out?? Have also purchased some Stepper gauges too, which look pretty smart and these are NEW! so it could be a busy weekend ahead, IF i get all the right bits lol
