kevlorn Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 The crew from Sunday street wars have decided not to continue with their own events. “It was a hard decision with a lot of soul searching to find out what to do for the best” said Lee Child. “We have lost count of the many hours, weeks and months spent on Smeatharpe airfield arranging and running the events”. With no outcome to the noise abatement so far, trying to promote the 2009 season is very hard for Dakota Drag strip. The biggest mountain to climb is getting sponsorship and advertisers without a confirmed venue. Another set back we had was with RAF Portreath. The event was moved to September but had to be cancelled, because the runway surface got damaged, so we understand, by a number of demo runs at a different event. Because of this decision the Sunday street wars crew have full Portatree timing system for sale with options for ¼ mile and 1/8 mile. We also have track equipment for sale like a Berrymans spreader and glue sprayer. “This doesn’t mean I am giving up the sport, I am still available for track prep and consultancy for running a safe event” added Lee. thank you to everybody that attended and all the sponsors equipment for sale Option 1 TRACK TIMER (ELIMINATOR 2000) BRAND NEW PORATREE ELIMINATOR SUPER 2000 (SPARE) INTERFACE BOX STARTLINE SENSORS DOWN TRACK SENSORS FOR 1/8 & 1/4 FOAM BLOCKS FOR 1/8 & 1/4 NATIONAL EVENT ALUMINUM AUTO RACE LIGHT TREE WITH SPARE BULBS STARTERS SWITCH 60 FOOT CABLE SENSORS 100FT TOWER EXTENSION CABLE 2900FT DOWN TRACK CABLE WITH FITTINGS CABLE REEL WINDER HD TIME SLIP PRINTER WITH SPARE PAPER AND INK RIPPONS. Guest petenofear1 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 ya it is a shame but dont forget if it was not for streetwars there we would not have lost the moto x and the banger raceing it was all down to street wars sorry needed to be said and not happy about it but as i said it is a shame that is no longer but i do know of some where this could happen again MAY BE just need to talk to the land owner
jd Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 (edited) dont think the blame lies completely with stretwars as the noise abatement order is a smoke screen. the real reason behind the closure is the numpty chavs racing up & down the road to the strip, therefore the blame could lie with the local police for not doing something about it. Guest petenofear1 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 sorry had 1 or 2 beers when i put that up and its not really down to streetwars or lee it is the little asshole chavs driving like nob's through the viliage that has done it for all us plus the to gooders that have moved down from xxxxxx just to have a holiday home and complain it is such a shame as as jd will say i really enjoyed it and we all had some good fun there one think i did think it was a little to much to get in £5 each thats should of been £5 a car not each but the £20 for as many runs as u can do was nat to bad
