Sti Tmic

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

Regarding the above....does the TMIC have a Subaru part number on it?

The reason I ask is that I'm trying to source one and there are a couple of ebay.

One being.....

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=140273882291

Problem with the seller is that someone has put negative feedback saying they sell it as an STI TMIC

but it isn't.

I sent the seller a message asking if there was a part number on the TMIC so I could check that it would

fit my car and was told they couldn't find one.

If there isn't one....fine....but if there should be! :rotfl:

Just the ebay paranoia!!!! :rotfl:

While I'm on the subject of TMIC's....how many of you have aftermarket jobs?

Ebay again...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=120313943721

As I've been told by others...they look ok..but would fitting be a problem?

I'm trying to source an Sti one but if I can't....who do I go for?

Cheers

I dont think the one in the first link is an sti intercooler, its a wrx one with sti painted on by the looks of it. There is one for sale on scoobynet at the moment although its not the best looking .

If you count across the number of rows on the one in your ebay link and then compare it to the one on scoobynet it looks like it is shorter. ( hope this makes sense )

I would avoid the aftermarket one and hold out for an sti one.

:rotfl: More expensive, but more reliable, & it was designed for the car by the manufacturer.

I did consider a cheapo ebay one but heard stories of leaks and stuff and decided to go with my gut instinct and get an STi one..

here's some piccies between the standard newage WRX intercooler and the STi one:

NONE of those you listed from Ebay are STI type intercoolers.

The first one is a fake, its a STD uk spec intercooler from a newage with STI sprayed on (doesnt even look like a good job)

Second one is also an aftermarket, and NOT a VERY LARGE one as it states in the listing, its still smaller than the original STI version, and the same goes for the second one.

If you want to fit something aftermarket, then dont mess about and buy a front mount.

If you want to have a top mount then just wait and spend the money on a GENUINE STI top mount.

I had an Autobahn 88 top mount on my car after the original one was damaged, and it did make a difference but no where near as much as a big STI one would have.

Cheers everyone.

The forum comes to my noob aid again!!!

I'll definitely hold out for an Sti one.....as long as it's not a disguised WRX one!!!

Al.....cheers for the photos. Top man.

You didn't go and take them just for me did you??? <_<

And if that Sti TMIC isn't in a car......is it for sale!!!

And you are correct....33 to 29.

The seller on ebay is selling 2 'Sti' intercoolers.....both with 29 rows!!! <_<

Now...is this always the case? Were older Sti ones the same size?

I guess as long as I know the size/version I need has 33??
