~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted October 5, 2008 Author Posted October 5, 2008 Thanks Col ! The squirrel approach sounds good but these current alloys need upgraded or refurbed.... Tyres are pretty shot too - this is evident from spinning all 4 wheels in 2nd, 3rd & 4th coming off a round about onto a 70 mph dualler.... I need to remove the tints too - I dont like the image and they are simply a cop magnet despite the fact they are only on the rear pax windows and rear windscreen Need to get an exhaust backbox bracket welded too - I wonder if C&C shall honour there lifetime guarantee ( got receipt too)

C_WRX Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Nice one Cal. Kept your wife happy with the amount spent no doubt given number more £'s were mentioned ! No doubt through time we'll see even more car transformation and track write up's !!
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 now insured for £280 with ALL mods declared ( TPFT wuith limited miles)..........way better than the £650 I was paying for the hawkeye ! especially as the Audi is £247. so basically I can tax and insure a diesel estate & a track car for less than a hawkeye with the added benefit that I can potter with the track car and it's not my daily drive anyone know how to remove tints ??? I hate them

I hate them Couldn't agree more Cal. I've got my new-age JDM STi and WRX ra track car insured for £628. Road Tax, 2 x £185. So both cars for less than a grand. I couldn't tax and insure 1 new hatch STi for that. Looking forward to seeing it out at Knockhill on the 1st November. As for the tints; probably the same as graphics; heat up with a hairdrier then peel off. Maybe. David
RS Grant Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 The wheels on the SpecG are Rota P1's in 18" mate.. when I bought them they were only available in the manly 5x114.3 fitment too. As far as I know, the tints are like David said, heatgun/hairdryer until you are able to turn up a corner and start un-peeling them. Take it slowly though, otherwise it'll tear off tiny strips at a time and it'll take ages!! Probably have quite a bit of residue left on the glass after it, but should come off easily with some elbow grease and quality glass cleaner. Cheers, Grant
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 thanks..........read somewhere that ammonia did the trick too but that sounds like a very smelly ball ache ! £100 for the next track day is a bit steep but me finks I'll need to take the plunge and exorcise some demons Cal p.s Dale - can I borrow your face for the 31st ? I have a house I want to haunt !
braveheart Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Nice 1 Cal i was looking at that tbh however you beat me too it lol nice 1.... C'mon the classics..
wilky Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Hey Cee Dubya - do you know what type of discs it runs too ? Think it's just running standard pads at present but they are incredible and really progressiveRe : 16's - does it make a huge difference running a smaller diameter wheel ? If so, why is that ? is it down to weight essentially..... Do you also know what type of Forge BOV it was running ? I shall likely buy a replacement one soon as a precaution Thanks ! Discs are 294mm classic 4 pot size, I have no idea of the make EBC was what I had. Pads I thinks are the seat Brembo ones. I have no idea about the BOV I was running a different set up. The bottom line about wheels is as Colin said, 17s will improve the handling along with geometry tweeks but reduce your braking, and slow you down. Having owned that engine and those brakes, I would stick with 16s as Ive tried that engine and brakes on track with both sizes of wheels and I chose 16s for my slicks because it made the car so much better. All this is just my opinion Cal, You may find you prefer 17s. Callum W
ANDYJDMSTI Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Cal, rear tints as far as i am aware are fine, should not have any trouble with the law. Is only the fronts that will get you into grief!

Cal glad to see that car went to a good home. I couldnt believe how long it was for sale for. I look forward to seeing it in action at knockhill in the future.
