Track Car Project Thread - Eventually

Russell i was lucky to an extent as I could have some say in my dates but it was still a real issue getting the car ready in time with little time at home and also often coming home on a wed night and leaving on a Fri morning for an event. I had to sacrafice some events that i wanted to do in order to do others. This year in particular I could not make either Forrestburn event which meant I could not score in the hills as you have to compete in each event at least once. If you and Chris have longer blocks away it will make it harder but certainly not impossible. Chris why not take your lads with you thats what I do and it works well.

The trick with the events up here is to have a car that works as a total package I havnt managed to achieve that yet but I have hopes for next year.

Hi Arch yes looking into this now i am lucky i dont touch tools so the car can be prepared for me with SW so im lucky that way and im not the best with a spanner i'll leave that to the proffesionals, wish i could do it likes of you would save me a fortune, need to find out what my rotation will be next year to see if its worth doing, also considering T/A..the boys would love it :occasion14:

Well in the interests of being 100% accurate having made a mistake above  I had to trawl back the times for 2008 my first season in a car with standard RA engine and turbo with 270bhp where I was competing against the likes of Donald McCaskil and John St as well as Andrew Scott in his well prepared escort etc. My first outing at Doune wasnt the most successful after crashing into the barriers while trying to keep up with the big boys on my first timed run on the Saturday, thats what happens when you try. The car was a bit of a mess and we had to pull the front end straight with Donald's merc sprinter and then spend a fair number of hours at Stevenson motorsport HQ on the Saturday night rebuilding it and trying to get it as straight as possible for the Sunday. So yes I had forgotten about that but having wrecked the car on the Sat I think it was a fair achievement to even get the car ready and compete again on the Sunday even if i did not do well and finished last behind Donald, John and Andy. The damage etc is detailed on page 2 of the thread. So what i should have said is I have never finished last in any sprint event and have never finished last in a Hillclimb event with a competative car as the car was not running properly on the Sunday and was not straight. I have also not finished last in class in any event that Jac and I have competed head to head. Now hopefully that sorts that

No Archie, it doesn't sort anything. You are still having cheap digs about me coming last at events and boasting, that never happened to you in the last 3 years but hey presto, not true again. Not only Doune, but also East Fortune. Once again what you post up here has no substance. Get out your little bubble and get real.

I Think you have a persecution complex that you really need to get over now start your own project thread and stop polluting mine your becoming boring and predictable. You are obviously hurting I defy you to turn up at Doune and drive that hill fast 24 hours after crashing there, your times this year and last year are not startling with a car that should be much faster so stop using all your energy being negative and use it cosnstructively towards improving your own results rather than trawling results from 3 years ago. :icon_salut: I have edited the post so that it is 100% correct :lurk:

So here we are again, back in Archie's world. If you post up nonsense no one can challenge it and if they do, they have a complex. You have the same car as John had 3 years ago and cant get anywhere near his times. John, i have respect for because you don't see him bumming up him self and belittling fellow competitors to make him self look good. Stop trying to be some one you will never be.

Jac - if you feel you are being persecuted on this thread, inform SIDC Mods and get some posts modified (if you can provide proof the information is inaccurate) for content and get some closure. Otherwise, please leave Archie alone to conduct his thread as he sees fit (all the information seems accurate, nobody apart from you is coming on here and belittling him or questioning it).

You could start your own thread with your version of events? people can read both threads, get information and advice off both threads and make up their own minds as to who is right?

Fairs fair and all that. It is Archies project thread after all. You wish to provide alternate infornation to what Archie has stated, do it on your own thread, that way no issues will be in place and all of us will continue with our lives in a nice fashion.

I'd consider letting it lie m8 - your not exactly building a fanbase with what is being said.

Just an outsiders view. Your choice how you wish to proceed.

How is your car at present compared to Johns 3 years ago? You have more suspension parts or less? better suspension setup?, the same?, or worse?, more motorsports orientated people setting your car up for you?, or less?

Power isn't everything. If you have a better, more all-rounded sprint car than John had 3 years ago ( I believe that you felt that you did) then surely you can't speak ill of Archie for not being the same driver as John was (is and continues to be ;) ) as you should be faster than John based upon what you have as an all-round package), unless your not in fact, a racing car driver.

I have no ill-will against either of you. I am hoping to participate in next years hillclimbs (subject to being onshore) and enjoy some of the camerarderie that John Stevenson used to talk about . But looking at the way things are being handled on here, that may not be fully possible...... but I have 1 clear target in mind that I want to beat........... it's just a shame I can't drive to save my life.

Archie - sorry for stealing your project thread, there's nowhere else (at present) to post this up ;)

I always enjoy reading about people moving onwards and upwards with their projects, or in this case competition/race car, and seeing the progress made as the years progress.

I enjoyed reading and watching John's red car and then the development of his current car, as I am enjoying reading about your Arch. It makes me want to have a go myself, but until my position is more locally based Ill need to wait.

Good luck with all your future plans and I look forward to meeting you one day.
