granby Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 wat else could it be my hids have been blinking alot lately on driving which made me think maybe the batterys getting on a bit Sounds like alternator to me, all the electrics are run off the alternator when the engine is running
Scooby Hoo? Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Sounds like alternator to me, all the electrics are run off the alternator when the engine is running Sorry 20 it's all the symtums of a faulty alternator. Start up the car and turn everything on one at a time.lights, radio, heater, fogs, air-con plug in phone and anything else. If the lights start to dim it's bad news mate. swifty1981 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 will try that tnite are they expensive to fix think they are about 80-90qiud exchange
20withascooby Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 dun what you said scoobyhoo but the lights stayed the same i did notice today that when i started car up the battery sign stayed on then i reved it and it turned off
granby Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Have you got a volt meter or can borrow one and see what the voltage is when the engine is running and when off
20withascooby Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 wil get hold of one what do i do wit hit
Garth W Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 U put it across the battery with the engine running on the display it should read between 13 -14 volts and not far off that when you put all the lights and etc on if the display drops down to 12 volts or if the volts dont go up to what they were with all the electrics on that means your alternator's dead
