Is anyone having trouble gettin on the aberdeenscoobs forum or is it just me? Been tryin for two days an still says error after first page?:wonder:

Our host (freephpbb3.com) have been working on upgrading their software, unfortunately this seems to have hit the stability of their servers. I was able to get on a couple of times yesterday but in the most part it was down, as was their support forums. :thumbup:

I wish they would at least tell us about their "planned updates", this isn't the first time that they have made a change to their software and had the whole lot come and go on a random basis like this. I realise it's a free service but a bit of customer care/support wouldn't go a miss, this was one of the main reasons we left iforumer as they went belly up for over a week before they eventually admitted there was a problem and even then they were not forthcoming with details. :P

So I'm afraid we are just going to have to sit tight and wait on this one, again, and hope that it all comes back up as it was before. :thumbup:

No, unfortunately it's affecting everyone, and not just our board either!

freephpbb3's homepage is slowly coming back to life although none of the links work and there's still some residual mySQL error messages in the header of the page. Fingers crossed all the data is still there.....

I couldn't get on to it the other day either. I did think the same as Dunc. SIDC paid $50 for this forum software and pay $50 a year in support. That entitles us to all upgrades/patches etc. Hosting is cheap as chips. It makes sense to have a decent, reliable web presence in place that YOU have got total control over and don't have to rely on piss-poor "free" services. It's a tiny amount of money - £25 a year. You offshore guys earn that before you've even had a dump in the morning :P

not everybody offshore is on mega bucks andy, i can testify to that :rotfl:

cant see why the baa baa bunch can raise hundreds for charity but still use a crappy free forum which has f****d up more times than enough :thumbup:

like you say its cheap as chips to get yer own site :thumbup:

Funny you should pop up Andy as I was going to p.m. you to ask what hosting service SIDC use - any chance you could send through some details mate, once I get back on to the current forum I'll be taking a download of all the data and look into moving to a more reliable and stable host, even if that means paying for it......

But aye, Aberdonians through and through us lot - grippy as f@@k!! :lol:

Not true it is 6.53 in the morning and.................................... im off to bed not slept since wed night :lol:

I was on yesterday was rather slow to say the least but thought that was my crappy wireless.

but yes, gennerally, thats how much a dump is worth to me... :lol:

I think that in the beginning the free board option suited things as the club was never imagined to get as big as it has by the guys who started the whole thing off, however I think we are now just too big and need to look at "proper" hosting services to save all this hassle every few months! :lol:

Well i think that it was mooted before, but I would be happy to chip in for the upkeep of the board... its not a lot, and i think that its easy split between a few of us... :lol:

Got a few ideas running through my head (there's a fair bit of space up there!!) so hopefully things can be covered, but for the initial period for what it's looking to cost it's not going to break the bank.....
