You'll need to peel back the arch liner to get access to a self tapping screw at the top of the rear edge of the bumper each side (10mm spanner). There will be some body clips as well which need to come out.

On the underside at the front there's two bolts which have very thin heads on them (17mm), these need to come out and if it's a '99 - '00 car, there is a bolt in the aperture in the centre of the bumper. After that, take out the (17mm iirc) bolts which you'll see if you open the bonnet and look down on to the chassis legs, this will allow you to pull out the bumper as it's attached to a bumper support panel. You should be able to get access to anything else that needs doing.

As for foglamps, you should be able to get access to the connections if you take the indicators out and fish around for the wiring, but you can leave that until the bumper is pulled out enough to expose what you need.

What sort of condition is the front bumper beam in? I had my bumper painted two weeks ago and the the bumper beam fell to bits with rust ;)

That's both the fron and rear beams replaced on my car now....

Thanks for that Alan, job for the weekend now. I already got the foglights off, just went at the rusted nuts and bolts with a Dremel until they fell out. The car's a 98 btw.

Christian, i'm sure it'll be pretty gubbed if the rest is anything to go by ;)

Just an addition, i should have said you don't actually have to take the bumper support out but some prefer to do it that way. The alternative is to remove the grille, headlamps and sidelights (doddle) and remove the plastic bumper retaining clips from the support panel.

I ended up just buying a new bumper beam for £79 as I had to get the car back together again quite quickly to get it out the paint booth. Not a happy chappy

Still I'm sure your car will look good once it's done. ;)

Cheers, that might be easier as i'm taking the lights out anyway,(morrettes need painted to)

Christian, no hurry for me to get the car out the booth as i've built one in my garage, sod paying the price i was quoted as a homer, so my mate (who's a paintsprayer) is doing it at mine :D

Hmm, phoned the 2 dealers closest to me today to get prices for the bumper bar. First one, £108.21 +vat and not sure if i'd get sidc discount on it, he'd need to check. Second, £83.87 +vat and no discount on this part.

Doesn't make much sense.

Got one off ebay, brand new, £62 delivered to my door ;)
