steveairdrie
My neighbour is CID and told me a few months ago about this. With alarms and immobilisers nowadays nearly impossible to bypass unless they are professional crooks. Stealing the keys is alot easier and thats the way most cars are stolen now. Now i hide my keys when i'm out or in bed Link to comment
Guest
scary can try it with me but they would have to get the keys out of my back pocket first!!! Saying that the spares are on the key rack in the kitchen might move them now!! Link to comment
C_WRX
Supposedly a couple in Lanarkshire area lately - although think it happens most areas more frequently than anyone would like unfortunately ! I heard one of them was for an RS4 where they threw a kerb stone through the front door window to get access to the house for the car keys at 3 in the morning. Car I think had a tracker and was later found. Stealing the keys is now the way to get the cars, fishing rod through the letter box or get access to the house - basically don't leave the keys lying around where they can be seen ! Link to comment
Midnight21
This happened to me a few years back!! the thief came in my back door in the evening when I was upstairs took my Landrover Freelander keys(and all the cash/cards out my purse placing it back neat so I didnt notice ) then came back later on for the car when I was in my bed!!!! Wasn't till early morning when I went out to work-NO CAR!!!!! He also used my card to fill it up!! but thats how they caught him, didn't get car back tho as he hid it! then a month later it was found parked up in a local street but I had already been paid out by insurance company. billyboy
Whilst nobody wants their car nicked and i sympathise with them, there is enough publicity about leaving your keys on show to scumbags. They are cheeky baskets and will take the chance if they spot the keys.I for one never leave my keys visible,i always plank them at night and if i go out i take them with me if im leaving the car.We live in a $hit society and these gets want to take things that people work hard for. RS Grant
While my keys aren't visible from a window/letterbox... they are extremely visible once inside the house, I'd prefer to deal with a s***ty insurance company with me/family being safe and sound than having to talk to a tool'd up skaghead at the bottom of my bed at 4am demanding keys to the cars.
