When Disassembling The Cylinder Block...

We are down the the guts of it now, just the block to disasemble.

HOWEVER!

Im guessin that sub's like others is better to leave the engine at TCD (cant remember if thats right but piston 1 at top).

I have it all lined up going by the markings on the cogs, but how do i unscrew the crankshaft pully without turning the engine over. I am guessing that there is some way of jamming (for lack of a better word) something in through the hole in the pully to prevent the engine from turning over.

Ideas?

of if poss a page no on the guide on www.cannell.co.uk/manuals.htm

cheers

Use a three legged puller if you have one to remove the crankshaft pulley and watch not to damage the thread it can only go on and off one way sometimes a bit tight

Use a Rattle Gun to remove. It's bigger than 20mm BTW. It's either 21 or 22mm

its a 21mm and ylu will have to use an Imact gun, preferably one that is 1" not your normal 3/4 inch gun. i found that these can be VERY tight, and the normal guns just wont remove them!

If you dont have a Windy gun: Remove the clutch off the rear of the engine, you will see the flywheel bolts, now using a double ring spanner 14mm off the top of my head, place one end on a flywheel bolt and the other end on the one of the bottom studs. Im talking about the ones from the engine that go through the gearbox. That will lock the flywheel so you can crack the front pulley.

As Gordy has said you may need a puller to get it off, i use a small nylon mallet and tap it a bit then it comes off.

You may need to shock the clutch bolts off or even lock it off!
