pistonbroke2 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Having just done my ICE install. The obligatory niggly problems were being ironed out, one of them being that the amp was drawing more current than the paltry 30 amp inline fuse for the feed could take, so kept popping the fuse everytime you cranked the volume. So yesterday, I fitted a 60 amp inline fuse and thought "thats that sorted". Then, I crank the volume and 'pop', off goes the amp again. I thought there was no way it could pop a 60 amp fuse so I bust out the multimeter to check it. The fuse was showing 12v across it, so no problem there then. Then I check the feed at the amp end, and nothing. Oh great I thought, the wire is broken and burnt out somewhere along the route. So I start pulling bits of trim of from the rear moving forwards checking the wire as I go. I get to the route through the firewall and still no voltage on the wire. I move to under the bonnet and see what I've done. I've fitted the 60 amp which is all well and good, but half a foot behind that the 30 amp is still there!!! I forgot to take it out of the circuit so I popped the 30 amp again. Sometimes I shock myself with my own stupidity. !!
granby Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Think we've all done something really stupid Once did a full service on my mates Escort, went to start it and it would not fire up, checked all the usual things then after about 20mins i saw this ford motorcraft pack with the points still in it, hmmm think it might help if i put them in
spikey Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 i used to own a automatic renault clio, stopped in a pertol station to fill up, went back to the car and it wouldnt start, of course i started to panic, checking the engine, making sure i had put in petrol not diesel etc. had to push it away from the pump and was about to call home for help when i relised the reason it wouldnt start was because it wasnt in park. i felt slightly thick and more than a little embarassed
