thewelsho Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Looking to replace my front pads. Car is a WRX with Brembo calipers from an STi8. I want a set of pads that are useful for track use, reasonably priced and the best place to get them; I need them pretty quickly too. I know there is a number of manufacturers like Mintex, Ferrodo, EBC so what should I go for? If anyone wants to off-laod a 2nd hand set in exchange for money, I'm open to that too. Over to you...

RA Dunk Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 ferrodo ds2500's are pretty good for all round use john and alyn will sort them out quickly for you i would keep clear of the 2500`s unless you enjoy scrubbing your wheels for hours, ive buggered up the front two wheels on my car trying to remove the brake dust!! im on the hunt for discs and pads and was thinking about going down the performance friction road this time
Richie Cross Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 What are the Brembo pads like? At my last service at Greers, Bill mentioned them as a possible next pad when I'm due a new set.

Brembo pads or Brembo calipers? I have never used Brembo pads (i'm not sure they do them). I bought the calipers 2nd hand and they had Red Stuff pads in (I think). As for the Brembo calipers - huge difference to the standard 4 pots! Highly recommended.
craig79 Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 John, You can also try Ian Godney of Godspeed Brakes, there's not much he doesn't know about brakes like Craig.

AS Performance.
scoobyiain Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I had brembo pads on my sti but upgraded to 2500's and made a massive difference.
DR Motosport Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 When I bought my JDM STi I thought the original Subaru pads in the Brembo's were ok'ish for the road but poor for the track. I changed the fronts to Mintex 1155's and the rears to the 1144's. All from Grant at AWD. Transformed the brakes and never had any fade from them, even with the slicks fitted. I now use a Classic WRX ra for the track days fitted with 6 pot AP's and these came with Ferodo 2500's. Again great for the track and never any fade. The Mintex are slightly cheaper, and have a slightly better feel when stone cold first thing in the morning. Both are dusty for the alloys, Mintex slightly more so. I wouldn't even consider the EBC's; nothing like as good as the Mintex or Ferodo's

Thought they would have been here today, so hopefully tomorrow.
