badbaz Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Hi all, Not been able to use the forum for a bit but I'm back keeping an eye on things and looking forward to the McRae Gathering. Stickers and tops ordered. My car (05MY Blobeye STi) just crept past 30k. Had it serviced for the warranty (it's last with the dealer) and it needs brake pads at the front. Had a quick search but didnt find any clear cut evidence of the route to go on here. It's running about 340bhp and has standard brakes and suspension at the moment. Any suggestions? Pads, discs? Not looking at any caliper changes so who knows which way to go or do I just stick Subaru pads in? Car won't be used on a track. Just a little question to sneek in, when will the next Glasgow meet be? I've meant to come along before now but I just can't ever get the timing right! Cheers
Double Zero Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Give Alyn at AS Performance a call m8 ,i ordered discs and pads on friday from him and got them this morning. Tel 0191 4103770 www,asperformance.com Stevie
sti pretender Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Next Glasgow meet should be the 3rd July, check the events section Ally will post up nearer the time. As for pads in the newage I'm on standard discs and Ferrodo DS2500 good for everyday and country roads. In the classic again the Ferrodo's but using an EBC grooved and dimpled discs bit hard for road but perfect for track. Also hear Mintex 1155's are good.
johnnyr6 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 as i have a classic i can't comment but aparently the performance friction discs are really good. Johnny
badbaz Posted June 27, 2008 Author Posted June 27, 2008 Ok, Ferodo it will be then. Always been happy with Ferodo for general fitment to any make/model so performance ones hopefully will follow on in that vein! Any recommendations on where to buy at a good price, and/or a part number for 2005 Sti(front)?
