Double Zero Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 On the look out for a car and Calder seem to have a fair few. Considering going down to have a look next week anything i should know about them? Superstar Tradesman bought his car from there mate and its minted,i'm sure there are other folk's on here that will give you some info on them. Stevie
boris b Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I found them to be very expensive. The ones i looked at in their compound were pretty shabby to say the least. I'm sure they're not all like that, maybe just unlucky when i went
colin_ross Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I've seen some nice cars there but I've also seen a few dogs. If you know what you're looking for you should be fine, check for signs of high mileage especially. Prices are a bit on the high side but healthy discounts avaliable for cash if you ask.
p1ggm Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 sorry not really heard much good, they have some nice cars in from time to time too
kaylz_555 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Be careful of some worn parts, seats, gear knobs etc... must be some overweight japs that they import them from! Apart from that just the usual, there's not a great selection and as Playsatan2 said, the mileage is high in a lot of them. Trade in prices aren't very competetive either but I'm sure if you went with cash you would get a deal. Personally I wouldn't waste my time but if you find a real beauty (which can happen) then go for it...just make sure you do a thorough check i.e. bodywork and underneath. But there 1k brake supra is mint...or it was last time we were there! Kaylz
superstar_tradesman Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 (edited) Hi mate, Calders are like every other dealer some people will have good things to say others bad. I bought my V3 STI 555 from them last year and as double zero says it's mint. Low miles and one owner in Japan with full history. I cannot fault them for their service, got my car with a warranty, damage to the front bumper repaired, new clutch and full underseal for nowt extra. I cannot recomend them highly enough, if you go ask for Dee. I also notice that all those with bad things to say have only been up for a look and not actually bought from there, yeah the cars might look a bit tatty if they've not been valeted yet, bear in mind they spend several weeks in a container to get here. I personaly think it's better seeing them before they are valeted, that way you are seeing them warts an all. A guy local to me has just bought a white V3 STI from them and is delighted with it. Honestly mate go for a look it'll be worth it, and as for being overpriced have a look at McKay Trading's website and you'll see overpriced. Edited May 29, 2008 by superstar_tradesman
jim dbm Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 i was going to buy the white v3 sti u r talking about was up for £6750, totally standard, was mint, had 67000mls on the clock or thereabouts, was paying cash, best deal was £6500!!i haggled but that was it, not a great discount and i thought was overpriced. went through stewart at sc imports, got same model, grade 4, only 40000mls and also standard for a lot less all in. i see they have a nice sti ra in at the moment but £6995!! i agree think they are a bit pricey but some of the cars are indeed very nice, some not so.
