Why Were We Not Informed?

Just gone on lanark gathering thread as tidgy told me that stickers were now on sale and are limited and i wanted to get ours and then right at the very bottom saw this:-

PS. Forgot to mention - for those going to Japfest, SIDC Chairman Phil Stephens will have limited stocks of stickers there so you can get them direct from him.

Why were we not informed?

Not only did i not find the 20 of the best stand yesterday but i knew nothing about these being at this event - i have no paypal funds and by the time i get paid i bet they have sold out!

oops .....

i made it to the stand, i even noticed the very little sign they had up saying they were for sale, but as i didnt have my membership card with me i gave it very little thought.

should have mentioned it, sorry.

also if anyone got trouble with paypal, i have enough money in paypal atm to get up to 20 tickets if i can get the money back.

i can only assume that the reason it wasnt more publically mentioned about the stickers being on sale was that the numbers were very limited, i saw the pile that phil had (at the end of the day) and was only about 1 1/2inches high.

i dont think they wre planning on being ready for this weekend.

Mate - it was not for you to mention so no need to apologise, thank you for offer of buying stickers very kind of you - bank of mum was yet again open for business - very rarely do you find a bank open on a sunday and willing to say yes when you cant secure anything on a loan!!!!

Woah!!!!

Stickers are absolutely not limited for this event! God knows where you got that from, but it is totally untrue. Phil had limited supplies, but supplies overall are definitely not limited. As JD says - it was a bit of a last minute thing as sticker sales only went live on Friday night. We never had a chance to publicise it properly. Phil volunteered to take some to sell so we naturally said yes.

We initially had no idea of what demand was going to be like for this event so ordered 500 stickers up front. The shop stock on the Gathering website didn't start at 500 (deliberately) so the levels of stock shown are below what we actually have in reserve. We're already working on further order as, due to demand and people wanting more than one sticker, they're selling faster than we thought (which is great news for the charities!) but we have, and will have plenty stocks right up to just before the event.

I can absolutely guarantee NO legitimate Subaru driver and Colin McRae enthusiast will have any problems getting their stickers for this event well in advance and get access to Prodrive for what is sure to be a fantastic weekend and a fitting tribute. We've been planning this for months and are well geared up to meed demand, but remember we're all just normal people with real life jobs and this is new to us - but we're learning fast just how powerful and generous the Subaru community is

Even if you don't have PayPal, once we get over the initial surge of orders we'll be taking them by cheque.

I've now added an announcement to every SIDC Forum with details on how to get stickers. In retrospect, yes I probably could have done more to let people know, but I was away for 3 weeks overseas on business and then when I got back it all just suddenly happened in a bit of a chaotic rush within a matter of days. B) Things had dragged on for so long since us making the initial announcement while we sorted out the red tape and crap that we had to, we felt we had to do something positive to move things forward.

I'd strongly suggest signing up to the mailing list on the McRae Gathering website - http://www.mcrae-gathering.co.uk (on the left hand menus, about half way down) - It's run by me and I f****** detest spammers so I can absolutely guarantee it's spam-free, but it will ensure you get every bit of news as soon as we announce it. Everything I add to the site as news I also email out to all newsletter subscribers. Jacqui - even if you subscribe to the mailing list as RO and post the email updates here it will help keep people informed and help us spread the word.

I apologise for any confusion that arose. It's purely down to us being newbies at this kind of thing and not appreciating the massive levels of interest there is. Regardless of the mailing list I'll try and post Forum announcements with any updates moving forward.

If it would help you and the other organisers i would be happy to assist in this way

think the limited numbers bit came from me in a way, i said there was only 400 or 500 up for sale, not realising it was just the initial batch, sorry for causing the confusion
