tiny gsy Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 Picked the car up at lunchtime today after its top end rebuild. Fortunately the bottom end was not damaged so happy again Also, after a month of trying, the fiesta hillcimb car runs
tiny gsy Posted May 3, 2008 Author Posted May 3, 2008 cheers Ed. I think I made the right decision in not rebuilding it myself though lol
tiny gsy Posted May 3, 2008 Author Posted May 3, 2008 a company called Bluchip mate. They are primarily an importer but there mechanic is spot on and isn`t scared to tackle anything
edmondo Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 where are they based then?................very expensive ( if you dont mind me asking )?...............are you pleased with what they have done?
tiny gsy Posted May 3, 2008 Author Posted May 3, 2008 They`re a local company mate based about 2 miles from me in Guernsey. It shouldn`t be too expensive as the only parts needed were gaskets and fluids, and the labour is £36 per hour
tiny gsy Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Yeah it was nice to take it for a drive yesterday. Spent £60 filling both my cars up with fuel though Kheldar, yes mate, you know the island well?
kheldar Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 (edited) no not well tiny. have been over 2 times for a holiday but the last was about 10 yrs ago. wuold like to visit again. very nice people / place / hotel etc. one trip we stayed here... http://www.hotelhouguedupommier.com/ Edited May 4, 2008 by Kheldar
kevlorn Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 nice one tiny...............£60 filling up both cars,,lol cost to fill up 2 over here would be double that...
tiny gsy Posted May 5, 2008 Author Posted May 5, 2008 Kheldar, if you come over at any point, let me know and I`ll probably meet you off the boat. Can also have a look around some of the hotels too and depending on what time of year it is the prices can be very good in some Hougue Du Pommier isn`t a bad place to go, but there are many better
kheldar Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 cheers Tiny well i am going back a few years so either others have caught up or Hougue gone down cos it was at the time a very nice hotel and certainly not the cheapest. we looked at a lot before deciding on it. i think the other one we stayed at was http://www.lesdouvreshotel.co.uk/ it rings a bell but is about 10 yrs ago now ! really enjoyed our 2 trips there. despite the size of the place we found plenty to do and ofc we visited herm and sark etc.
Voices Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 (edited) so what was the end result then Tiny, i wasnt quite 100% with it when i called you. Kheldar, loads better place to stay then the two you mentioned.. let us know if you come over again, i know a few good hotels.. Edited May 5, 2008 by Voices
kheldar Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 (edited) cheers voices. would love to visit again...and bring wife number 2 they were both nice places many yrs ago though! Edited May 5, 2008 by Kheldar
scooby princess Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Really happy for you james, its nice when long awaited things happen.......................unfortunately im still waiting!
tiny gsy Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 Had the bill today and was well impressed by it I`ll definitely be using them again, maybe even to fit new brakes for me shortly
monkip1 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 That labour charge is spot on Tiny! And glad your cars up in working again, bet you have polished it to a brilliant white allready havent you lol, Monki.
tiny gsy Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 Not yet mate, have only driven it twice since I`ve had it back. Getting the wheels powdercoated soon though, and hopefully, Ksport brakes all round
tiny gsy Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 not sure about getting the Ksports now. As much as I want them, there is no guarantee they will fit. I don`t really want to run spacers so that they would fit and i don`t want to replace the wheels so it looks like i may be getting disks and pads and a set of coilovers instead
kevlorn Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 all depends on what your going to do with the car though tiny...........track days, hill climbs or just general.......dont skimp on your brakes if your going to compete in it..
